Let's talk... about anime pets! Which are your favorite?

It always seems like the pets of our favorite anime/manga characters doesn’t quite get enough attention as their human counterparts. For me, the animals/demons are the first draw to a series. Yeah, they are adorable!

So lets everyone have fun sharing which pets are your favorite?


There are so many anime pets, from the exotic to the plain... From kittens that sit in girl's hair to a flying squirrel that hides in a Kimono... There is a dragon that turns into a Jeep... A flying demonic cat that has flames at her feet, and can change size at will... Huge wolves... and that only skims the top...

    • I didn't know that much about Akamaru, so I looked it up.... and sure enough, awesome pet!
      He would be in my top 10 too~ I love big fluffy dogs!

      Here's some trivia:

      * Aka means red. -maru is a suffix for Japanese male names. The reason for his name was explained by Kiba when Akamaru's fur turned red after eating a Military Rations Pill.
      * Akamaru's breed is similar to a Great Pyrenees.
      * Akamaru is not to be confused with Kakashi Hatake's nin-dogs. Akamaru is an Inuzuka dog and is not a summon.
      * In an omake segment that aired in Japan for New Year's, Kiba attempted to get Akamaru to talk, with little success. There are no indications that Akamaru even has the potential to speak.
      * Interestingly, Naruto was first published in a segment of Weekly Shonen Jump known as "Akamaru Jump".
      * Akamaru and Naruto have the same seiyū, Junko Takeuchi. However, they have separate English voice actors.
      * According to the Naruto databook:
      o Akamaru wishes to fight Kuromaru.
      o Akamaru's favorite food is the special dog food Kiba makes.

      But once I learned it was based on a Great Pyrenees I was hooked, they are one of my most adored dog breeds!!!

      I love the anime BECK. The dog is absolutely cool. I never got to see the entire series due to moving and loosing the on demand feature... blek!

      Yeah I miss anime on demand on my tv... I just don't have as much enjoyment watching it from the computer chair. Oh wells.

    • Hmm, one of my favorites has to be Buuta from Gurren Lagann. He sounds so cool, acts nobly, then eventually turns into this hybrid human/pig mole/fighting machine. Sweeeeeeet.

    • I adore this giant wolf!...
      And this creature might not return, but I thought he kicked ass on wolf from moribito guardian of the spirit episode : "Perish in Aogiri (Blue Mist) Mountains"

      I wish I could have found a better picture of him...

    • I have a hard time deciding... I really like pen-pen...
      Face it, He's all cool, lives in a freezer & a bathtub and doesn't mind beer! Eats fish and is utterly awesome!

      And I adore Ein like crazy!!!! That data dog is smart, he can make all kinds of decisions to keep himself out of trouble as much as a dog of that size kind... and all the while, he's totally humble and adorable! I did a bit of fan art of Ed & Ein. And some of just ein. I would love to get that breed of dog now that I have researched them, if I get a small dog at some point in time. Of course, the name would be EIN. Yeah, the adorable factor hooked me.

      Then again I named my computer Keilalah, since I can't have a cat.

      Oh well, it could be worse... right? >.<

      Oh there is one more I have to post....
