Wow, the media has a sense of humor about serious societal issues, what a concept?

Simply as a measure of their overall positive impact on society, I would suggest "Blipsters."

classic... i honestly never understood how anybody could dress like that and show their face in public. the fad is sweeping the world. in argentina they have the 'floggers'... google it. i live in a metro city and watch the army of clones wearing skinny jeans, converse shoes, v-neck shirts, plaid sweaters, beanie caps, thick-rimmed glasses, etc. but the true essence of a 'hipster' lies in their disingenuous attitude and fake persona. sadly... the "cool kids" are not 'cool'.

How about just 'posers'? Most just put plugs in their ears and get dumb tattoos that they believe are 'deep' just to fit in... Just like every other re-hashed fad. Can't wait til this one dies.

What exactly makes a hipster? Someone into "hipster" things? Is it not possible to genuinely enjoy photography, indie music, or dress the way "hipsters" do? I like many of these things, although I dont do the social network thing..this and YouTube are my social networks haha. But, when you hate and poke fun at people for these things, you're no better than these generic hipsters who are apparently so judgmental.

" " would suffice..... they dont deserve the amount of attention we are giving them by labeling them...... just another thing for them to complain about

Thats a back handed compliment. You use the word, "faggot," as a negative to describe the gays, but you associate them with being hip.

No, most people (that i know anyway) use "faggot" to describe childish baby types, and it's mostly devoid of any connotation toward gays. I know more straight faggots than gays. You definitely don't have to like the cock to be a faggot. Though, most people don't understand this, and that's ok too.

Yeah whatever. You can't divorce a word from it's history just because you don't want to quit saying something offensive.

The history only stands because people continue to hold themselves by it. Same works for that dreaded word "nigger". People have a right to be offended, but they're stupid if they let it really affect them. Call me anything and see if I really care about your opinion.

How about 'dipshitsters'?
Why do we need a new word for 'Hipster'? Does the New York Times think Hipster doesn't convey the level of hate they deserve or something?

This has been used before, but maybe call them the something for nothing crowd. They expect everything for free because they believe they're all that. It must be nice to feel like that. U?
