Is a televised same-sex kiss still a big deal?
On this week’s episode of Glee, Kurt and Blaine finally kissed – and fans went wild. It’s not unusual to see tweens so invested in a fictional romance (see: Twilight), but it’s much more unusual to see a romance between two men on TV.
Are same-sex kisses on TV still a big deal? Or is it all about the characters and the fan reaction – regardless of the gender of the participants?

Realistic violence is more of a big deal, but you don't hear much about that. Apparently, a little snogging might open the 7th Seal of the Apocalypse. Or at least lead to some disturbing dreams in the hopelessly repressed.

WHO GIVES A DICK! Here's what I don't get about homophobes. The more homosexuals their are on Earth THE MORE WOMEN THERE ARE FOR EVERYONE ELSE!
Why would you be pissed off if you were in the Olympics and the guy next to you said "No thanks. You can have the gold medal. I just don't feel like competing today... I'd rather have Bronze anyway." Why would you get pissed at him for it?!!?!? IT'S FUCKING GOLD!!!!!!!!!

It's disgusting that this question should even be asked...
As if love between two men (or women) is any different than heterosexual love.

I think it was a big deal (in a good way) because it was a long time coming for Kurt to finally get a boyfriend. It's the build up that made it special- just like when Will and Emma finally get together.
I think that most of us more enlightened folk are beyond gay-straight even being an issue anymore- only the hardcore religious bigots still do, and nothing will educate them.

In answer to Victoria Jackson's blurb of words (I'm being generous), we can clearly see what _her_ agenda is...
Seems to me that it's not a big deal when two women kiss on any channel, and barely so even on a "family" show on a "family" channel (ABC's "Family" channel has girls kissing each other on 'Pretty Little Liars' frequently). But put two males together, and the kissing police come out in droves.
While it seems to me that often the loudest critics seem to be older, I doubt the same-sex kissing of either gender (or race, orientation, etc.) is going to decrease on television. It occurred to me during the Oscars that even five years ago, a director would not have easily thanked his boyfriend for the support he had given him during his project, yet it happened this year. Media continues to imitate social cues, and I doubt that'll change.

Victoria Jackson On 'Glee': Former 'SNL' Star's Homophobic Comments ~
Did you see "Glee" this week? Sickening! And, besides shoving the gay thing down our throats, they made a mockery of Christians – again! I wonder what their agenda is? Hey, producers of "Glee" – what's your agenda? One-way tolerance?http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/20/victoria-jackson-on-glee-_n_838071.html

I used to think Victoria Jackson was just spoofing fundamentalists. I was horrified to find out she was serious. I'm glad to see her career has tanked. It's amazing she lasted as long as she did in showbiz. Who did she think was writing her lines?

This question makes me think of the time my sister who is gay came to visit me with her girlfriend 30 years ago in hicktown USA, and the horrid reaction they got when they showed any affection towards one another...needless to say, it took them several years to come back again. This time the two of them were pleasantly surprised, and even joined a gay pride parade going on that weekend. So my answer to this question is.....it's about time!!

I can't speak for anyone else (but I'ld bet I'm close) that most men enjoy watching two women kiss and have a problem with watching two guys kiss. I think women don't like watching two women kiss only because they know men like it and like watching men kiss because they know men don't like it.

No Big Deal,
And Fuck the People who think it is a "Big Deal"
I find more offense in what the people at Fox News do with their mouths.
They paint this kind of thing as part of the homosexual agenda to influence your children -- When they do that remember Glee is a Fox show, and Fox is actually paying these young men to kiss eachother. That's right Fox, you just funded the Gay Agenda!
and the veiwers seemed to have loved it. -- Take it as a Hint
Come Sweeps Week we wanna see Bill O'Reilly & Glenn Beck tounge deep in front of that chalkboard. (disgusting, yes - but i promise you would have your highest ratings ever) - 1 year ago

I suspect that people are more tolerant about things they will watch, versus things they will tolerate in person, in their daily life. I still think (although it shouldn't have to be this way) that it's a very brave act for male couples to be affectionate in public. Because unless you're in an urban/metro area, it IS STILL a VERY big deal to some people, who have no problem making hurtful comments.

And in many places, hurtful comments would be the least of their worries. Gay men are still routinely assaulted in public. Negative reactions to gay affection need to be loudly shouted down by all of us, gay and straight. We need to take a stand against anti-gay bigotry every chance we get.
