How do you define Urban Mobility?

Old fashioned walking.

Making it possible for people of all socio-economic backgrounds to live in a city and easily access new experiences that enrich their lives daily.

The cities newest legal residents have ultimate Urban Mobility! BEES! Did you know is now legal to keep bee hives in NYC???

You have to get off the couch to get stuff.

Traveling wherever you need to go via public (or private!) transportation.

A mode of transportation to navigate around a city or town.

Being able to get anywhere you want to go on public trans

I am still sometimes amazed by the public transportation system in NYC. I get around using trains and subways on a daily basis. A system consisting of trains, subways, buses and ferries move millions of people around at almost all hours of the day. This is not to say there is not room for improvement. More research needs to go into making it feasible for NYC taxis to become at least hybrid vehicles if not 100% electric down the line. Due to the volume of taxi driving in this dense city, hybrid/electric taxis would drastically improve the city's air quality.

Saving the planet while at the same time making life convenient and easy.

The many ways that people use today to get around cities in the most efficient and environmentally-sensitive ways they can, from bicycling to car sharing to buying fuel-efficient and hybrid vehicles when necessary.

I think Urban mobility means not only using public transportation or other forms of transportation (ie Bike, Scooter, etc), but also using a smart car or urban friendly vehicles.

Urban Mobility can be many things. It could be using public transportation. Or, using carpooling services or car share programs with your friends. It's NOT about driving an SUV that looks like a tank and gets 8 mpg.

I would define as how people use transportation within a large metro area, ie NYC, or Los Angeles. It could be using mass transit, auto's, Bikes, Skateboard, or even walking.

NYC is ahead of the curve as there are so many ways to get around using public transportation! With bike lanes, subways, and hybrid taxi's New York has paved the way in helping people commute.

New York urban mobility is getting better each an every day with public transportation continually improving their carbon footprint by adopting new technologies like electricity to power buses throughout the city.

i'm in Midtown Sacramento
i walk over to the downtown busline 2 blocks away
ride over to Amtrak
where
i train into Richmond and grab BART into downtown San Francisco
step into a cab for
lunch at a favorite Italian place
then
back on BART to SFO where i fly out to Montreal
grab cab to downtown
have a better than good dinner (because it's montreal)
and then
subway over to the train station and roll out into the countryside
disembark and walk out to the street
and
hitch to the residence i rented off Craigslist

i fkn love urban mobility

*sacramento doesn't fly direct to montreal, SFO does. don't like driving and don't like being on a plane more than 5 hrs. on driving: you have to watch the road. i like to gawk at what i'm passing by. demanding? no. i know what i like because i'm a hedonist...

I believe that it is a measure of how easily one can get around a city without owning a gas only powered vehicle. Where I currently reside there would probably be a mobility rate of zero as there is no public transportation at all and you need a car to go just about anywhere

How do you define it?

Urban Mobility, for me, is a measurement of how pedestrian-friendly or alt transport-friendly my environment is. For example, I appreciate the Urban Mobility options in NYC. I can take the subway at all hours of the night -- I am not forced to take a cab or a bus if I don't want to. Some areas of this country are really hard to navigate without a vehicle, which is a shame.
