Corruption in the media. I just recently discovered Current, what an awesome channel, I haven't been able to stop watching. Finally, I can watch something without feeling like I am being lied to or to keep my mind occupied from what's going on in the real world. The Vanguard programs are amazing, and The Young Turks kick ass!

What about a story on the Fukushima Japan nuclear plants that are leaking radiation into the ocean and air I haven't heard any updates on this lately and I am concerned because corporations don't want us to know the dangers. Do you know what's been happening and can you point to any information that's valid?

I'd like to see you tackle the media, media ownership, and broadcasting in the public interest. Howard Dean when running for the presidency mentioned this on Meet the Press and by the end of the week the corporate media had done a hatchet job on him. Is it possible to do a story on this without dire repercussions from the 1%?
Until we re-regulate the ownership rules and reinforce broadcasting in the public Interest I fear corporations will continue to run this country.

I'd love to see a piece regarding the reason that no one will Primary President Obama, besides the common thought that it might hurt the democrats. I believe that what is hurting the dems is their failure to lead with a clear vision based on principle.

Problem: Jobs. Solution: Temporary direct hire from federal government. I need Congress to adopt a direct hire program to get the unemployment rate below 5%. Not only will this help the nation, it will also ensure those that are hired will support and vote for the President, as if their jobs depended on it. Because it would. If the Republican took the congress or the presidency, these new hires would be fired. Please help me.
The minority unemployment rate will not rise until we have the unemployment for the general population to go down to about 5%. People hire who they know, like and seem to be more like them. Since, America is more than 60% white, and a higher percentage are rich, upper class or middle class, then it stands to reason, why minorities are hired less. Therefore, it is not racism, but favoritism. Thus, minorities must seek solutions that help all Americans so that they can help themselves. Once we are back to work, we must save our money, invest in ourselves, and get out of the mentality of looking for a job, but what we can do, to make money on our own.The number one issue we have is jobs. I believe that we should hire 15 million people at 36k a year for one year and place them in different federal agencies. This would cost 540 Billion dollars. This can be paid by the Federal Reserve. Returning veterans would be great candidates for employees. The are already in the federal system.
The people who would be hired for a year will get good job experience, the agencies that have been decimated for the last 30 years would get the needed manpower they need to do their job competently. The tax base will increase to the city, county, states and federal government when they pay taxes. Small businesses and corporations will benefit when they via for the new money going into the economy.

I'm concerned about the overwhelming prevalence of "double-speak"in our country, especially when it comes to important issues that effect the vast majority of the population of the country. NOBODY would say "Yeah, lets give someone who isn't doing anything but sitting on their butts money." but when you have a family of 3 with one parent trying to pay all the bills while on unemployment and struggling to find a job along with the other parent, isn't there something fundamentally wrong with them agreeing that unemployment extension shouldn't be done? They think that they aren't in that group when the reality is, according to the politicians, yes they are.

Your lead story leads to a MUCH bigger issue. Lets discuss what really has happened here... the overlay for the underplay. These banks loan money that is LEVERAGED. That means it's FAKE, completely made up money. For every dollar on deposit, they can loan up to 10 dollars.
Henry Paulson was able to convince the SEC to allow 5 banks to leverage at 40 to 1 between 2003 and 2004 - meaning he accomplished this goal in that time period. Goldman Sache, Merril Lynch, Lehmann Brothers and J.P. Morgan and one more.
Think about that... they were able to BUY these PAPER mortgages (because - in reality - these dollars are all paper dollars... fake dollars.) with fake (leveraged) dollars.
Who owns these mortgages, and the foreclosed properties, now? The banks and investment companies who can now operate as banks.
What we have just witnessed is the biggest con job in history. The 1% on Wall Street (specifically bankers and certain investors). have just bought TRILLIONS in real estate with fake money... and they are using the FED and the bailouts to cover it up.

Your show is great. Here is what I'd like to bring out...It is just my thoughts but I'd like to share.
I believe that the reason America is falling is because "the haves" who control the 90% of wealth forgot/ignored the fact that they are "their brother's keeper". Before long though "the haves" will have no "have nots" to feed off!! I wonder whether "the haves" ever think about that.

I'd like to hear about why so many people falsely believe the occupy movement is anti-market, anarchistic, and incoherent when everything I see at Occupy rallies points to three easy to understand goals: 1) Lobbying has corrupted politics and subverted the by the people for the people principle. 2) Point 1 has led to consistently bad policy in favor of the interests of who pays for campaigns. 3) One example of point 2 was Wall Street deregulation, which led to an environment where a few made millions moving other peoples' money around until the speculation bubble burst. Honestly, I'm not a smart guy. It's so obvious to me. Why does the media and half the USA fail to see that bad policy always comes when a handful of people have power over policy through lobbying clout to make rules for an entire democracy? That said group happens to be behind the corporate form and on Wall Street is just one particular manifestation.

Yes, payroll tax cuts, and how it will when people retire and receive Social Security, their monthly payments will be lower due to less lifetime payments into SS because of payroll tax cuts.
Instead, adjust the tax code and give people making under X amount of money a tax cut there.

Since this also applies to the environment and the Congress's and Obama's apathy regarding Durban/COP17 and climate change in general as it kills people globally, which includes this country, I agree. Would like to know what edict went out keeping any Democrat from challenging Obama and why people, Republican or Democratic seem to stick with their man regardless of how much they hurt this country and its people. Why is PARTY so much more damned important than principle?

Hi, What also puzzles me is just how hands off this subject even the more progressive news sources are. From Olbermann, Maddow to Tom Hartman. Amy Goodman does not settle for the notion of "what can the president do with so many republicans against him. On Chris Hayes's show she simply said something so clear: he does not lead on the important issues. he doesn't champion anything truly Progressive. There has been very little effort to plumb these depths. Challenging Obama seems so very essential just now.

It's like this cult of "win" at all costs and screw what the people think. A very dangerious strategy, especially now. Some democrats don't want to admit it, but some of them are no better than those who supported Bush even through his illegal wars and unconstitutional war crimes and torture, even though he was an "appointed" president. And that is part of my other question regarding loyalty to party being so blind that it even blinds you to truth, morality and reason. Personally, I wouldn't vote for a Republican no matter what, but I do think the people should make the choice of who their general election candidate is going to be. I for one do not appreciate being cornered so I too am baffled at why this is not even a topic of conversation.

Why won't a truly progressive (preferably Afro-American best for circumstance) Primary President Obama. Mr. Obama has shown himself to be failing as a "leader". He will not go to the people and champion the environment, personal freedoms, the poor and middle-class, the U.S. Constitution, shrinking the Department of Defense, all minorities, justice in Palestine and Israel, justice on Wall Street, for the Banksters and the Bush people. He has not supported his base. While it is true that he has provided 2 reasonable choices for the Supreme Court he does not seem to have the willingness or capability to fight for what is right. He never championed "single payer healthcare". We need a Primary to at least force Mr. Obama to truly discuss all the choices at this horrifically challenging time.
