What does Obama need to say in Tuesday's State of the Union address to win you over?

The State of the Union address happens on Tuesday, and Current TV will be airing the speech as part of a special episode of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" beginning at 9/8c, with commentary from Keith Olbermann following Obama's remarks.

The Republican campaign is in full swing already, meanwhile President Obama is facing criticism from Democrats unhappy with his performance in the White House.

What will President Obama need to say to win you over?

That would be refreshing. Afghanistan does not want us. We have accomplished nothing in ten years except get a lot of people killed, Americans and non-Americans. We build infrastructure, they destroy what we have built.

Bin Laden is dead, so what is the point of our presence?

    • He could say something like an apology for me too, maybe like this,

"I am sorry if it's obvious I don't like fossil fuels despite the affect my energy policy has on poor people. I love this country, and I believe we can get over this hard choice of moving away from fossil fuels even though it may be a rough decade before we can mature into a real, permanent future for our children, and their children."

Once I get off the floor laughing, I might actually consider it a real confrontation, and I would believe in him. I am an evil conservative, and maybe I'd consider leaving the dark side at that point.

    • He needs to show that he 'gets' how teachers have been left out of the education debate, and desribe how he will MAKE SURE teachers' voices are included in the discussion. He also needs to announce the addition of real educators, like Darling-Hammond or Ravitch, to the Dept. of Education.

I like that. He should point out those who've abused the education system with outrageous personal salaries. He should say how putting more money into education will actually put money into results, not pockets.

    • It no longer matters what he says---because the Repugs are not going to do another positive thing, even if it was something which they proposed first. They are in need of retirement.

    • Message to Obama: What you do speaks so loudly, I can't hear what you say (anymore). It's too late for more talk. Who could believe you? Only actions will convince ME that you moving in a better direction; and it's hard to see what you could still DO at this late date. One possibility though, and this would seem to be under your full control: PROSECUTE SOME WALL STREET BANKERS!!!!

    • There's nothing he could say now to "win me over." ACTIONS speak louder than words and on the most urgent crisis we face, what have we seen in the way of real action? What good does any president do if they are only water boys for the good ole boys?

      So sadly true.
Part of the continuing torture in being a passive part of this criminal enterprise is that the way the system is rigged if one wants to stave off an even worse group of criminals, (who not only loot, but also kill everything in sight for fun) we will most likely be compelled to again vote for the lesser of two evils.
How is that effort to pick a new regime via the internet going?
I would really like a viable choice this time.

    • Obama needs to state how he intends to bring the Democratic Party back together. Currently, the Silicon Valley & Hollywood war is coming to blows. Additionally, the Occupy Wall Street crowd has not even been addressed. Obama is OK right now, but if this continues or worsens in his next administration, he will be a sitting President with absolutely no power at all. Not a good thing.

    • Obama need not say anything. He needs to act for the people to win me over. He has done a great deal to pander to both TPTB and the people of this nation. He can no longer ride the picket fence between the two and will have to make a choice to serve one or another. Worst of all, he signed legislation that would make it possible to detain Americans(NDAA), as well as legislation that would make the Americans detained no longer American citizens but enemy combatants. The proposed ACTA, SOPA, and PIPA bills, the extension of the Bush Era tax cuts, and his oblivious nature to the Occupy movement makes his promises and statements moot. We need a leader and not a panderer.
