How does President Obama's personal support of same-sex marriage change the conversation?
President Obama has finally given his personal support to same-sex marriage. This evolution of his views comes just one day after North Carolina's Amendment One, which changes the state's constitution to prohibit same-sex marriage or domestic partnership, was passed by voters.
How will the President's endorsement change the conversation?

Read The Republican Mind for an excellent explanation of how normally intelligent people like Ron_Rhonda_Beverly can disregard facts.

I don't think it changes the conversation at all i.e. Conservatives still hate it (and Obama) while progressives still find it perfectly acceptable. The real change is that we have a president take a firm stand on a very controversial issue. Can't remember the last time that happened.

I do happen to know that Obama flip flopped on Gay Marriage at least 3 to 4 times since 2004. So,let'e keep the conversation to whats most important and that is that he is a fraud. Four more years of this guy and we are doomed. By the way, Stephanie Miller's radio show is a fraud too. She should get the facts correct before firing off a bunch of propaganda on topics that obviously, she knows nothing about. How does someone such as Stephanie get a radio show? Tell her she better get her facts right about Romney and Bain Capital before she fires off more BS that she must have obtained from another Liberal website or Newspaper. She should do her homework. She should have her broadcast license revoked. If she knew anything about managing a business she would realize that sometimes business has to get rid of dead weight. In other words people and systems that are no longer profitable. I guess she figures that we can run our businesses like liberals run our government. Oops! That means running a super size deficit and debt and still trying to keep the doors open. Well, I have news for Ms. Miller, businesses don't survive that way. Those businesses close and only add to more people becoming unemployed.
Remember, when the Government runs out their money they just take yours.
Can anyone spell OBAMA?
Hey, Stephanie, give us some real political discussion not a buch of cynical comments and opinions. It's OK to be a Liberal just express it in a professional manner as many good Liberal journalists. - 1 year ago

A fraud? Really? How about our ex-war president who went AWOL from his cushy Texas Air National Guard unit? How about the fraud who started two unnecessary wars while cutting the taxes needed to pay for it. There's your "fraud". Obama's been cleaning up Juniors turds for the last 4 years and you call HIM a fraud? Wait a minute, am I addressing Rick Santorum?

I don't think it does change the conversation. The people who support President Obama, for the most part, are the same people who support gay marriage. I don't consider this a particularly risky statement for the President.
Conservative Republicans have also completely alienated the college crowd with their recent move on student loans. North Carolina, in particular, has a very large percentage of the urban population working in research, there are several research parks in this state...not to mention big universities like Duke, Wake Forest and UNC. While the charter school movement is expanding in NC, with parents on waiting lists, the urban population is made up of a lot of people who not only have or have had student loans, but who also understand the impact of GOP educational policies on the work that they do, so my guess is, that once again, the GOP has overplayed their hand, and will hopefully be paying for it at the polls....but of course, it is never wise to underestimate the power of stupid either.
