What do renewed attacks questioning Obama's citizenship say about the GOP and Mitt Romney?

Mitt Romney has criticized President Obama's ideas for being "foreign" and Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio's volunteer posse has declared Obama's long-form birth certificate to be fraudulent. Republicans have questioned Obama's citizenship since the last election, but the murmurs died down significantly after Obama released his long-form birth certificate. Now, these types of attacks are back in the news.

What do renewed attacks questioning Obama's citizenship say about the GOP and Mitt Romney? Is it an attempt to deflect attention from Romney's tax returns?

    • ...says all they have is their dirty tricks and nothing else. If they can't lie to win, or buy to win they've got nothing.

    • People this is a feint. This is campaign dirty tricks used to cover the GOP and their horrible decisions. Roger Ailes learned this from Tricky Dick Nixon and most people have fallen for their abuse.

Let's get away from the dirty tricks and vote out the Republicans.

    • Hey thatguy27,

I agree with all the positive you said on O'bama but make no mistake, his hunger for unchecked power both domestic and abroad, his in bed relationship with wall street and the big banks, his total lack of leadership for his party, his cowardly retreat from single pay health care, and his rhetoric against the rich without action make his achievements dubious at best.

You seem gifted at stringing big words together, but you are lacking any form of meaning at the end.

What exactly do people like yourself expect?

I wish life, love, politics and the world were as simple as you think it must be.

    • It says that they got nothing and that they are getting desperate...and its still July. I think the Romney campaign realizes that things are going to get worse over the coming weeks whether he releases his returns and tells the truth about Bain or not. Romney has painted himself into a corner. Nothing good will come from not releasing his taxes, on the other hand releasing the tax returns may be just as bad if not worse...either way its a bad place to be if you're Romney.

    • I was reading a long thread on a conservative site last night regarding Obama's birth certificate. I know they are picking on him because he is black, but nevertheless, I would like to see their concerns addressed in a serious manner.

Agree! They have no legitimate "concerns" he's a american citizen -period- only the insani-tea-party-FASCISTS "believe" otherwise (in much the same way they seem to believe the world is flat).

    • It does nothing. This race is over. Without Women, Latin, Working Class vote no amount of polling will stop this race becoming a landslide for Obama. And make no mistake, Obama has been a dismal failure in domestic leadership, but he still is a master politician. Romney is simply a cheat. This is the best the Republicans can do?

'A dismal failure on domestic leadership?' Sorry, but I have to disagree. If you're a woman that was helped because of the Ledbetter act, or you have health care because of the AHCA, or one of the people that have a job because of the 4 million jobs he has created over the past 3 years...I could go on and on. The fact is, despite the resistance in congress, the President has accomplished a lot. For whatever reason, the media seems to focus more on what he didn't do than what he has actually managed to get done.

Oh, and Progressives are never satisfied. We always want more, lol. No matter how you look at it, the only way this country can move forward is if Barack Obama gets a second term.

Agreed, thatguy27. I am consistantly amazed at how little people actually understand the powers of the POTUS. The only reason the economy is still slow is because of Congress and the big banks that have and are ripping-off everyone, every day.

    • Mitt Romney is shrouded in secrecy. That should lead anyone to question his motive to be in politics and specifically to become the leader of one of the largest economies in the world. He's following the money because that has been his goal all of his life.

The Republicans have tried every inept trick in the book to deflect from Romney's continued secrecy. All this does is become an impediment of valid discussions of the real issues relative to this pivotal election year. Romney doesn't want to discuss any concrete plans and whines, if he does they will be attacked. Well, dah! If they're inferior plans they will be attacked; however, if they are good plans they could bring him benefit. The opportunity for voters to make that decision has never been present. On the other hand, on a daily basis President Obama promulgates new directives within his power not requiring the involvement of the GOP.

The continual bullshit can be characterized as circus politics found in developing countries. The American citizens are tiring of Romney's continued secrecy, lying, flip-flopping, and want a concrete presidential candidate foundation and platform. Nobody knows who Mitt Romney is and what he stands for or against. My suggestion to the Republican party is to get rid of him; cut your losses now because it will soon be too late.
