What do you think of Current's new addition: 'The War Room with Jennifer Granholm'?
Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is coming to Current TV. "The War Room with Jennifer Granholm" will air at 9/8c, following "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," starting in January.
"'The War Room with Jennifer Granholm' is at the core of Current TV's strategy to be a trusted resource for intelligent and compelling commentary during what is sure to be a critically important election year with many complicated and emotional issues,“ Current TV's Co-founder and Chairman Al Gore said in a press release.

I'm looking forward to the Jennifer's show, I HOPE Jennifer is considering an RSS Audio Feed for the program. I wish all the Current hosts would consider it.
It would be most helpful via internet Radio, Reciva, and a variety of other platforms as well!

I understand the idea behind the title (a reference to political campaign headquarters), but the majority of the audience won't, and may consider it off-putting. We've already seen that in the comments here. The Governor will need to put in a lot of work to make sure she controls the identity of the brand while figuring out how to lure viewers who read "The War Room" and think she's some hawkish centrist.

Absolutely the right person I hope is NOT wasting time on petty politics. There is way to MUCH media concentrating on JUST politics, when the voter needs to learn and discuss public policy. For too long now the American people have let our politicians off the hook in terms of articulating long-term policy. Instead we end up with short term election style gimmicks that only seek to solve the candidates electoral problem while leaving the nation hanging for another 2 to 4 years. Gov. Granholm, Leave politics to the political pundits, do not become one yourself. What viewers need is: policy, policy and more policy discussed.

To Mr. Gore:
Dear Al,
I am sure you know I love and respect you dearly and have supported you for many years. You were actually one of the only candidates I can say I actually voted "for." I would not come here as frequently as I do willing to participate and spread information that I believe people need to know were it not for the fact that I do believe it matters and I am truly grateful for this venue to do it in. I have a deep passion for the environment and believe me, being associated in any way with your endeavors on that gives me hope. However, I have to be honest as someone who has been here since the first day and state that I am a bit disappointed with where this station is going. There are those of us out here who do not weigh everything based on partisan politics. But yet that is exactly the goal of this station it appears... to make everything a political issue. And while it may be from a democratic view, I personally think your lineup is overkill. It's exactly why I don't watch any other cable networks either.
I came here in the hope of discovering new young talent making news at its source and telling us interesting stories with us as well as the participants and frankly, I don't think it was given a fair chance. So, here I am again going out on a limb and telling you what I think would be an absolutely necessary show for this station since "speaking truth" was something you told Cenk Uyger was what you wanted;
You wrote a book titled "Our Choice" which gave us a very clear roadmap as to the solutions to climate change/biodistress based on actual solution summits with scientists and other involved in them. We don't have a show that lays that roadmap out to give people information, access and hope to these solutions. Why can't we have a show that is non partisan that lays out that roadmap? Why can't we have as part of that show segments where we go to the places experiencing climate change so people can actually see how it is affecting the world ( which could also include participation of members here?) Why can we not have a show that gives us segments on places in the developing world using these solutions already and introducing some we may not have known about? A show that is not based on political spin, but moral courage and hope for the future? A true environmental show that sends a message that we are all connected in this?
You know the effects of climate change are now becoming more pronounced and what they are affecting (water, agriculture and access to both.) People need to know this and the solutions and see that they are being implemented and are making a difference. They need to know they are viable and accessible in a media where all we see are propaganda ads for oil, natural gas and now even tarsands. I think this type of show is relevant, important and urgently needed. It is along the lines of an "Environmental Vanguard."
Beyond all of the politics there lies a more important underlying issue: the perception we have of this world and being made aware of the paradigm shift we need globally in order to change that perception to sustain this planet for the present and future. I know you understand this. I would love to see that expressed here and frankly am not impressed by shows called, "The War Room" where political prognosticators get to show off their egos in an attempt to one up the opposition. We need real solutions to this and I just don't think that will happen the longer we stay embroliled in these partisan political back and forths. Now do I think this will be listened to considering I'm just a lowly citizen? I can only hope, because it' s way past time.
Thanks,

She was the best Governor Michigan every had, in some of the worst times the state ever faced. I am THRILLED with the new program.
She pulled Michigan out of a 6 billion deficit in her first 4 years, only to be handed a new 4 billion deficit by the Republican legislature lame ducks who did away with the Single Business Tax, and a Bush admin that met with her challenger while refusing to meet with her. She struggled mightily to improve matters in spite of a Republican legislature and the tanking of our economy thanks to national Republican policies. But she managed to help negotiate the survival of the auto industry and bring in many new manufacturers, especially for green energy such as electric auto batteries and wind turbines.

Her test will come in January, but from what little I have seen and heard, she's impressive. To think that anyone, KO, Cenk, Rachael, Lawrence, Ed. or Jennifer don't have warts is just naive...in fact its that humanity thing that makes them real and more like us...
Now I realize that there are posters here who believe they are wart-less and serve as the Wart Police, but most of them are just people who hang around sites like this looking for the opportunity to defecate their grand opinions as fact that came directly from on high...

This week the International Joint Commission is holding their biannual meeting in Michigan. We are all honored to have Al Gore come to our Great Lakes state to talk about the threats facing our inland seas. But……All that glitters is not gold. After selling out to Dow Chemical, doing their corporate bidding, Jennifer Granholm walked into a lucrative position on Dow’s board of directors within weeks of leaving office this year. Not surprising that amid the Occupy Wall Street fervor sweeping the nation that the Governor stepped down from Dow’s board ahead of her debut on the nation’s most progressive venue, Al Gore’s Current TV.
The Saginaw Bay is Michigan’s largest watershed. Dow Chemical is responsible for polluting 52 miles of river and the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron with the dioxins and furans--- the numbers are the highest in the nation’s waterways. Fish, game and soil contact advisories are in place throughout the region because of extremely high concentrations of dioxin—the contaminant in Agent Orange. The contamination is as historic as Dow Chemical’s recalcitrance and decades of defiance to take responsibility, not at all unlike GE’s bad behavior on the Hudson River.
Governor Granholm had the opportunity to defend public health, advance environmental justice and restore a river system and protect a Great Lake. Instead she chose to shun transparency, bend to Dow’s bidding, go political, not enforce the law or defend her agency. She allowed politics to trump science and failed to deliver on her promise in 2002 to cleanup the river and make public health a priority.
Jennifer Granholm had the opportunity to shine as a true progressive but early in her tenure she caved to Dow’s job threats and feigned Republican out rage about out of control state regulators. By June of 2008 she was reaching out to President Bush’s EPA administrator Steven Johnson who had just fired the Regional EPA Administrator for compelling Dow Chemical to cleanup several hot spots.
Granholm held office for 8 years, she had the law and the bully pulpit to defend this watershed and she couldn’t find the progressive fire in the belly to address one of the worst contaminated sites in the nation. And another generation of kids will grow up on a contaminated river. And hundreds more will continue to rely on contaminated fish to supplement their food budgets.
Someone once said the most difficult choice a politician has is to not tell the truth or be a hypocrite. Some can be both.

As a Michigander, I love Governor Granholm for her intelligence, charisma, and charm--she's a great choice to host a show. However, I want to see her come out of her Democratic shell and not tow the party line--if she does, I won't tune in. The whole point to "Current", for me, is that you represent a leftist alternative to the status quo--don't become the status quo Governor!

Wow, not one post this time saying "bring back the pods"... I was hoping to see a program where we the people who are told we are appreciated so much here have a real voice in the program. I really am naive aren't I? I just do not like shouting matches. One reason why I love KO is that he does not do that interviewing stlye. Understand you liking him and you will not miss him with Graholm being at 9PM. The only problem you will have is if Vanguard or even Shuster are put on at 10pm because that would be up against ED.

defintely agree there, it one of the biggest reasons why I will never watch them. Hope that if they try that with ED he can get out and join Cenk and KO on Current. I love how uncenosred KO is, he show has gotten so much better since he went to Current, keeps making me love him more and more and respect him more and more. Same I know will happen with Cenk.

Awsome! Now just find a good spot for Elliot Spitzer and you have a true progressive, inteligent News channel.
Maybe in a Sunday format like Meet the Press?

She is too much of an insider. She has defended some of the worst of Obama's rightward moves with a smile. You should have seen her on Bill Maher a couple of weeks ago. This is discouraging to me.

Yes I dont plan to watch her. She was on the board of Dow Chemicals, the company that is behind some of the worst industrial pollution and lobbying for weakening of regulations. i dont know what you mean about Bill Maher. He has a particular point of view and I general likes the way he defends progressive ideas but not all of what he has to say.

Oct 12 (Reuters) - Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm has quit Dow Chemical's board of directors to host a political TV show on Al Gore's cable TV channel.
Granholm, who joined the board of the largest U.S. chemical maker less than seven months ago, will launch "The War Room" on Current TV this January.

I'm happy to see Current adding these kinds of shows, because I no longer watch the news channels. I hope that Current will eventually be a liberal alternative to the other news channels. It is really needed.
