Huckabee tells CPAC: ‘We are all Catholics now!’
Submitted by KB723
At the Conservative Political Action Conference, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee thanked President Obama for turning evangelicals into Catholics by requiring private health insurance plans to cover contraception for women.
“You have done more than any person in the entire GOP field, any candidate has done to bring this party to unity and energize this party as a result of your attack on religious liberty and the attack on the personhood of every human being in America,” the former Arkansas governor declared.
“The fact that Catholic hospitals– and not just Catholic hospitals, but any hospital, any organization — would be required to provide not just contraceptive services, but Plan B abortion pills and other services that are outside the conscience of people of faith is, in fact, a direct violation of the First Amendment,” Huckabee insisted.
“I remember very vividly when John F. Kennedy said that we are all Berliners. Well, in many ways, thanks to President Obama, we are all Catholics now.”
The community chimes in on the ordained Southern Baptist minister:
OlBlue: "Why weren't you Catholic when the Pope came out against the wars and for universal health care? Where were you then Mr. Hypocrite?"
Leen61: "‘We are all Catholics now!’ Oh really? Speak for yourself, Huckabee! Jeeze, I'm sick of this clown car!"
noxidereus: "This stuff would be just funny if it weren't true that some people are actually convinced by Schmuckabee's words."
HarukoHaruhara: "Yeah, those evangelicals are all Catholics until a Catholic tries to tell them they don't believe in a literal interpretation of Scripture, and then .... it's right back to the Reformation!"
Shortly after Huckabee's speech, the Obama administration announced that the birth control plan would be altered. When nonprofit religious organizations have objections, insurance companies would be required to reach out to employees and offer the coverage directly, but the plan will still provide contraceptive coverage for women.

Mike Huckabee has really ballooned...he used to be much thinner. His weight really demonstrates what a Fat Cat he has become. Sucking on the government teets must be really good these days.
