Two Western Journalists Killed by Syrian Govt

Submitted by Truthitswhatsfordinner

More than 80 people were reportedly killed by rockets and bombs throughout the 19th day of a bombardment under the government of President Bashar al-Assad. Among those killed were two Western journalists, Marie Colvin and Remi Ochlik, who died after shells hit the house they were located in.

The night before the bombing, Colvin, a veteran American war correspondent, reported on-air to CNN describing the horrific onslaught in Homs:

"The Syrian army is shelling the city of cold, starving civilians," she said.

Colvin, a veteran correspondent who also covered last year's Libyan civil war, said the Syrian crisis was the worst conflict she had covered, partly because of the volume of ammunition and shelling falling on Homs.

"There's a lot of snipers on the high buildings surrounding the Baba Amr neighborhood. You can sort of figure out where a sniper is, but you can't figure out where a shell is going to land," she said.

The community responds to the brutal crackdown in Syria:

JanforGore: "Don't understand why this isn't being discussed here more. This is in my opinion all part of the global oil/resource grab. The human rights abuses being carried out on the people there... well, there are no words for me anymore. Humanity surely is at a crossroads now."

Leen61: "This is truly sad. I bet the US gets involved sooner or later."

cmc101: "They did not die in vain. They had the courage to show the world what is happening."

I believe most people are thankful that reporter- journalist are at the front line revealing the the cruel tyrants in this nation
I also believe the media has an obligation to speak the truth , Show the atrocities with sensitivity that inform, compel the citizens and neighbors around this nation to get involve without destroying the compassion and love they have for one another .
It is easy to make war but peace comes from within without vengeance
I pray with like mind an heartfelt desire for those that has died will remain in our hearts and tears and rest in peace
