Virginia passes a modified ultrasound bill
Over the past week, women's health advocates have criticized Virginia's ultrasound bill, one of the most controversial pieces of anti-abortion legislature in recent years. We're taking a closer look at this breaking story from the Current community. Check it out and add your two cents:

Virginia Governor Caves on Transvaginal Ultrasound Bill
Submitted by jeffissleeping
The Virginia House of Delegates passed a revised version of a informed consent bill that would force women to undergo an ultrasound before having an abortion. Approved 65-32, the new bill requires women to receive an external, transabdominal ultrasound rather than a more invasive transvaginal ultrasound.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) revoked his support for the original bill before the House debated it.
"Mandating an invasive procedure in order to give informed consent is not a proper role for the state," McDonnell said in a statement. "No person should be directed to undergo an invasive procedure by the state, without their consent, as a precondition to another medical procedure."
The community responds to McDonnell's shift in support of the GOP-sponsored ultrasound bill:
Leen61: "Excellent! I think this had a little something to do with this nutjob caving..Power to the People!"
cclark_productions: "Keep you man hands of my lady rights government >:("
chew_chew: "If he is truly a "less government" person, why did he not have this perspective BEFORE the public uproar. Mr McDonnell is just another subversive hypocrite."

This one really beats everything. What's the point? To make SURE the abortion decision is as horrible, guilt producing, traumatic as possible? Do they think the decision is EVER easy and painless? Why dont they ADD, "Any woman who has an abortion MUST take the dead embryo home with her in a box"?
