Rick Santorum: ‘The dangers of carbon dioxide? Tell that to a plant’

Submitted by 11dim

In front of a crowd at the Gulf Coast Energy Summit, Rick Santorum told attendees to trust his opinion on the environment.

"The dangers of carbon dioxide? Tell that to a plant, how dangerous carbon dioxide is," Santorum said, according to the Associated Press.

"I didn't change as the climate changed," Santorum said. "I stood tall. Now the climate has changed and everyone's for drilling now. But understand that when times were tough, they were not and I was."

The community responds:

letsliveinpeace: "The anti-science and ultra religious Rick Santorum tells Mississippi audience that global warming is a hoax. The science is junk/bogus. We should ask plants how dangerous CO2 is! He's so out of touch."

11dim: "The real problem is that we are using resources faster than we can get them. Oil should only be used for chemicals, burning in any form is waste and pollution. Coal is worse and we get mercury and radioactive pollution to boot. The result for us is more cancers and other health problems. Big companies would rather make a few more bucks with their greed and give us more cancers (they have the bucks to fight, hard to prove cancer cases)."
