Dog guards owner's grave for six years

For the past six years, one loyal dog has continued to stand guard at his best friend's grave. We're taking a closer look at this heartbreaking story from the Current community. Check it out and add your two cents:

Dog Guards Master's Grave for Six Years

Submitted by Progresshiv

Capitan, a German Shepherd, disappeared from his home in a small town in Argentina following the death of his owner, Miguel Guzman, in March of 2006. The Guzman family thought the mutt had run away for good, but a week later, the family found Capitan sitting by Miguel's grave.

"The following Sunday we went to the cemetery, and Damian recognized his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing as if he were crying," said widow Veronica Guzman.

Adding to the unusual circumstances, Veronica says the family never brought Capitan to the cemetery before he was discovered there.

"It is a mystery how he managed to find the place," she said.

The community responds:

galwayman: "Am not surprised! A dog bonds with only one master in a lifetime and clearly that is the case here! Thanks for posting this a solid thumbs up!"

artemis6: "Quite a few other animals grieve. Jays, Elephants, Chimps, i cannot recall all of them. Dogs do too."
