Pastor tells Christians to vote for 'cult' member Romney
A Southern Baptist told a syndicated radio program that despite Republican candidate Mitt Romney being a member of the "cult" of Mormonism, Americans should vote for him because President Obama's policies "shakes its fist" at God. Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress recently told conservative radio host Janet Mefferd that even though Mitt Romney is a "non-Christian," Christians should vote for him over President Obama because he disagrees with Jesus Christ on key principles. Pastor Jeffress warned that America will "go over the moral and spiritual cliff from which there is no return" if the president is reelected.
Jeffress said: I still think there are concerns out there among evangelicals about voting for a Mormon. I’ve made peace with it. The way I’ve made peace with it is to make it very clear on programs like yours that Mormonism is a cult, it is a false religion, Mormons worship a multiplicity of gods, they deny the Bible, in fact they think the Bible is so error-filled there had to be a second book of revelations."
"I want to make it very clear that I don’t believe Mormonism is Christianity, but I do think that in this case it is better to vote for a non-Christian who supports biblical principles like life and marriage than voting for a professing Christian like Barack Obama who absolutely repudiates what Jesus Christ said about some key issues."
The community responds:
Leen61: "These nutjobs just keep coming out of the woodwork, don't they?"
FreeSpiritMuse: "Learning a lot about the religious right during this election (ever since the Republican debates), they're out there in some religious political twilight zone.
keithponder: "Leads me to ask him who does he think God is ? The rich & wealthy 5% ? The Golden Rule(r). He who hold the gold makes the rules. I guess I answered my own question. Religion is a crock of sh*t."
