I did feel disengaged after the 2004 primaries, and here is what I am doing about it. Attached is a draft of a letter am sending each Dem presidential canidate asking that they do not withdraw from the primaries until after Super Tuesday. If you like the idea of this letter, send it (or something like it) to your favorite candidate, or all the candidates, so we the voters can be a assured a full field of candidates to choose from during our primaries.
Dear Madam and Sirs,I am writing this letter to you and each of your colleagues to ask each of you not withdraw your candidacy for President until after the primaries of Super Tuesday.
I am an undecided voter and a registered Democrat. Based on the current field of Republican candidates, it will be no surprise to anyone when I pull the Democrat candidates lever in the Presidential election. Therefore, it is in the primaries where I choose who I vote for as President.
I do not have the financial power of a key backer, or represent a coveted demographic. I am just one voice and yet the only way each of our one voices can be heard is to have a full field of candidates to choose from in the primaries. I feel that the primary votes of people in a couple of states cannot fully represent the voices of all the Democrats in the United States.
Please give voters the opportunity to choose from a full field of candidates in the primary voters box. Thank you for your time. - 4 years ago
