It's one of the golden rules of the natural world birds live in trees, fish live in water. The trouble is, no one bothered to tell the mangrove killifish. Scientists have discovered that it spends several months of every year out of the water and living inside trees (hit pic for the whole story)
How amazing is the world we live in. I'm always fascinated when I read something like this. I also sit in bed at night watching Nat Geo in total amazement so Im a bit of a nerd...oh, if you haven't checked out the Planet Earth 11 part series, do it. Incredible!
The entire killifish family is extremely unique in this way. For those that don't leave their seasonal puddles they leave their eggs nestled deep in moist vegetation for the next rainy season. Frickin great fish.
