Famous Pakistani Cricket Player Blasts Musharraf in a Youtube Video!

AROC
Imran Khan, a famous cricket player turned politician is currently hiding from the authorities in Pakistan. Pretty courageous guy to be broadcasting his personal protest. It's also a good breakdown of what's going on there from someone on the ground. Check it out.

    • "All that should matter to us is ourselves when it comes to the safety and the sovereignty of our nation. "

You know that might sound reasonable if Americans (including you) were not so dependent on the rest of the world.

    • kevdawg, because like it or not, there is an international community of which all countries are a part. We share this small planet and are interdependent in many ways. Why should 95% of the world's population not react when 5% goes screwing around meddling in and destroying other people's business?

"The Palestinians are nothing but squatters on Israel's land, it was given to them by God originally in an Abrahamic covenant. "

Other than claims written by men some two to three thousand years ago, there is no proof whatsoever of that. Show me the contract or deed with God's own signature on it - and I mean empirical proof - and I might consider it vaguely possible - the Bible is not empirical proof.

    • Who cares about the support of the international community, why do we have to do what everyone else agrees with. We shouldn't have to look to foreigners and ask their opinion of whether or not we should go to war. There shouldn't be any such thing as an "international community." All that should matter to us is ourselves when it comes to the safety and the sovereignty of our nation. By the way, we should also always be in favor of anything that will insure the statehood and best interest if Israel. The Palestinians are nothing but squatters on Israel's land, it was given to them by God originally in an Abrahamic covenant. The Palestinians should be expelled and removed, then sent back to Jordan where they belong.

    • Additionally, I liked the comparision to the Shaw of Iran, a US supported but unpopular dictator. When will our government learn? Nice going Condi! I don't know if we will ever again have the support of the international community after this administration.

    • It seems as if Musharif has taken his political cues from US president Bush. Any law with any excuse (lie) to benefit his own agenda. I don't believe there has been any crackdrown on terrorism, i.e. Al Quieda or the Taliban, that are operating openly in his country. The only crackdown has been on his opposition.

    • kevdawg, Musharrat didn't lock-down his country in order to protect and save the lives of anybody except maybe himself. He didn't do this for the sake of democracy, either, but to prevent democracy from removing power from him.

    • I don't understand, what is the leader of Pakistan supposed to do? His country, his government, and his life could be in danger, I think he did the right thing putting the country on lock-down. Protecting and saving the lives of the majority is more important than infringing on the rights of those in the minority until the unrest and anarchy can be put to rest. There can be no democracy if the nation is in a state of anarchy. Many things people consider to be rights are privileges, not rights.
