ReState of the Union

This an art experimental art video that I have been showing over the past year. It is cut from George W. Bush's State of the Union Address from 2004.
This is a short section of a video that is meant to be shown as loop. The perpetual clapping of the politicians closely mirrors the attitudes of the United States citizens. The standing ovation acts as double meaning signifying that we have all been a little too complacent, all too apathetic, and all very happy to see this president leave office.
My concern lies within the connection between the audience, the artist and the rest of the world. Reframing familial concepts and placing them in a context of relevance and social awareness has been a fertile ground for creating compelling images.
For me the most compelling images are not those which speak to us blatantly, rather they are the kind that remain with us for the rest of our lives. Technology has been the medium that has afforded me the opportunity to reach a broader audience. The distribution of artistic thoughts through digital means has only begun to alter our perceptions of what art can become.

wow. that's really awesome. They're like drones, just clapping away. And when you look at they're blank faces...its like they dont even care why they're clapping. Or at least they're not happy about having to do it.

I dig this. I'm going to share it with some artist friends at jaxcal.org. Is that OK?
