U.S. science academy stresses evolution's importance

The U.S. National Academy of Sciences on Thursday issued a spirited defense of evolution as the bedrock principle of modern biology, arguing that it, not creationism, must be taught in public school science classes.

    • Evolution is a tested and sound science, backed up by 50 years worth of data, by hundreds of scientists over the years, each verifying it by independent means.

      Creationism only has one source: the bible. And it's written 2,000 years ago by semi-literate iron-age barbarians who thought the sun revolved around the earth, and that 'evil spirits' were the cause of diseases like leprosy and schizophrenia.

      One is solid science. The other is myth. There is no comparison. We're in the 21st century. There's no reason why mankind has to regress on 2000+ years of progress just to appease a band of narrow-minded, dogmatic religionists.
