Obama's response to Bush's final State of the Union address

The Google generation might not apparently 'get' the internet but it looks like Barack Obama does. Moments after Bush finished his final State of the Union address, Barack Obama planted himself in front of a camera and shared his thoughts. If the man doesn't make it to the White House, he's got a fine future in the Viewpoints section of this site.

It's another impressive speech from the articulate senator, focusing on the war in Iraq and threat from al Qaeda in Afghanistan, the need to unite and work with opposition for the benefit of the American public and the dire need for a health care reform.

It's the little dig at the end that I like:
"Each year as we watch the State of the Union, we see half the chamber clap and half stay seated and half the audience at home tune in but do they listen? Imagine if next year was different. Imagine if next year the entire nation had a president they can believe in."

    • Honestly I would have rather voted for Kucinich, but unfortunately their is not a party strong enough to support him, we desperately need a new party to go in a different direction, but I cannot deny that Obama is a great Orater. I definately disagree with his views on Afghanistan but I just can't take another year of Republicans so if he gets the nomination I will vote for him because I have no other option besides not voting at all. Maybe that's why they say that if voting did any good it would be illegal and I don't even need to go into the computer voting scam but you could check out www.blackboxvoting.org and see how futile our voting process has become and even still I will vote just because I don't take the right to lightly.

    • Incredulous - I must admit, when I heard him mention Afghanistan in that speech I did do a bit of a double take and think "Woah, what?"

      Perhaps he's trying to broaden his appeal a little so the voters who backed the war don't pigeon-hole him as "100% war shy". Either way, it's something I definitely want to read up on more.

    • I know I've been an outspoken advocate of the Ron Paul Revolution, but man, Barack is badass.

      I would be proud to have this man represent me to the rest of the world.
