Superdelegates Explained

derk
What're Superdelegates? And why are they important ?

Super Delegates are the 842 hand-picked delegates - nearly 20 percent of the number of delegates - needed to clinch the Democratic nomination.

Howard Dean - Democratic National Committee Chairman - is the person who selects them.

Basically, the list is comprised of the 'Who's Who' of The Democratic Party.

    • This is great! I didn’t understand how the delegate system worked and now I am informed.

I can’t believe that the Democratic Party uses an archaic nominating system that includes 842 "super-delegates" –party leaders not chosen by the voters, free to support the candidate of their choice, and who comprise more than forty percent of the delegates needed to win the nomination.
We need to change the super-delegate system so that the people choose their candidate not the establishment.

    • Simpler explanation: It's a scam and fraud on the American people whereby those in power already(elected officials) have a 40% say in who gets chosen as a Party's candidate....thereby allowing them to circumvent the will of the people and keep their power close to the vest. Any American who thinks the People have one iota of influence in choosing our country's leaders are either naive or ignorant (or in denial).
