    • Were you able to get them? Were you able to read them some where here on the internet? Are they still up on the internet?

      THEN THEY ARE NOT CENSORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they were, you would not be able to find them at all.

    • I didn't say the system worked. Not when someone is jailed and tried without lawyers. this isn't a 3rd world country. CIA secret cells are illiegal. We are a country of freedom and laws.

Do you think Gitmo should remain open? Out of all those prisoners and wiretapping. How many people have been jailed? When you torture people for answers, these "facts" cannont be used against them. the whole world agrees that Gitmo is operating against international law. Would you want to be tried in front of a Military court? Why do you think they do this?

i suggest you check the "no fly" list to see if you're on it!

haven't you heard about the whistleblower from AT&T? We already know they have been tapping peoples phones. that's what the whole FISA is about.

You'll see. Perhaps it will be after the elections, but Bush and his crooks will be prosecuted or at least put on trial. They are committing more illegal acts than Nixon.

    • mohitz -

You just said the system worked. You said the system worked for the innocent folks from canada and they were released.

ON top of that it appears that the Gitmo Proceedings are continueing.

Here is a bunch of articles from the US Department of Defence on Gitmo Proceddings:

      http://www.defenselink.mil/home/features/gitmo/

They are get a day in court a Military Court but still a court. And those that need to be returned to their countries they are being returned.

      ON Phone Taps:

There is absolutely no evidence at all that my phones or your phones are being tapped. If there were I certain the ACLU would have someone in court by now.

    • Benjiminwinters and Karde - of course we've restricted habeous Corpus already. There are hundred's of prisoners without due process in Gitmo for years already. the only ones who've been freed are a few innocent people who the canadian government demanded we release.

We also have over 900,000 people on the "no fly" zone list who already have had their freedooms taken away.

Do you really want to allow th e US government to tap your phones and check your emails?

The left and right don't need to chill. they need to unite and take back our country from the current administration. We don't need to chill. We need to WAKE UP. we are a great country of freedom and laws. this administration is far worse than nixon. what's worse is no one is doing to much about it. Read Howard Dean's "Broken Government". this guy knows what he's talking about.

    • Could all this happen? Anything is possible.

I don't think we will ever use a nuclear bomb again, because of the colatorial damage imposed that is created, Less an entire nation was fighting us. This is not the case in this was. This war is about a segment of a society who politically and religiously hate the US and western allies in Europe and any where else that enjoyes freedom and peace. We have very powerful weapons that can be used as a sergically to pinpoint attacks.

And short of another Civil War here in the US, which we are no where near, I don't think habeas corpus will be removed.

      My Point -

There are those here in the US that are besides themselves and are all ticked off about this sort of things when nothing of it is true to date.

No one has been arrested inapproproately because of supposed "telephone taps"

No one has been arrested inapproproately because
saying things in blogs, or the internet, or saying things on news sites.

No one has been cersored because we all have access to the "glorious" "news" site the huffington post and other "news" sites that want to spew their version of the news, we were being cencsored we would not be able to access this stuff any where period. This tells me that real news agencies have either looked at it and found the "news" to be unfactually or found that the it has some other purpose than the one purposed by the "news" blogger

Anyway, Everyone, left and right, need to take a chill pill and step back and put their emotions in check

    • Karrde, the true test of our rights will come if and when we have another terrorist attack. We haven't used nuclear weapons in over 50 years, or restricted habeas corpus since the Civil War. However, that doesn't mean that either option is off the table. And censorship through omission is still effective in corralling the majority.

    • And once again the shocking truth. Remember your friends that were all conspiracy theory and paranoid...they don't look so crazy now do they. The whole system is out of wack. Not out of control but out of wack. As the political system continually looks to protect corporations, ship jobs over seas, and undercut the American middle class, all the Administration can do is institute martial law to keep the peace once the public realizes the government has knowingly employed wolf to look after the sheep. This is the tip of the iceberg that is going to melt and flood our cities with angry despair. "You were supposed to be looking out for us not screwing us!" Politically our priorities are out of order but hey, let's just talk about something else, the economy, teen pregnancy, drugs in America. C'mon on politicians, give me some advice. Yea, right. I'll ask a homeless guy instead. Why? I'll probably get an answer I can use. It's a double speaking farce from top to bottom. Dang near comedy if it weren't so serious.

    • Abbo,

Thank you for expressing yourself so well, seriously.
I agree with most of what you said.

The National Guard issue: I am not too sure what is all about. but

During hurricane katrina, It would would have helped if the federal government would have been in charge straight out of the shut, because they where at a stand still for three or four days afterward because our local governor was worried about who was going to be in charge of the National Guard. Because that was not nailed down before hand, our governor would not ask FEMA to come in and take control and start working. FEMA is not allowed by law to start working in a disaster until asked by the local government.

Now I don't know what was behind the bill that was signed but it could be some Katrina backlash still.

    • Karde - if you are just comparing the US with China then of course we have a lot more freedom. WE are democracy and they are communist, yeah. Perhaps you haven't followed the FISA rules (this is one of many criminal acts).

The Bush administration had the telecom giants spy on us without warrants and won't resign a bill to continue the program uless we give the telecom giants retroactive immunity. First, if they didn't do anything wrong, then why the immunity. second, courts have already been set up to allow the government to intercept emails etc.. They just need a speedy court approval. This FISA program is for their illiegal activity. Did you know over 900,000 people are on the "no-fly" zone in error? ARe you on it?

Why people call those who are protecting our rights as "radical liberals" I'll never know. The essence of democracy is freedom and the right to speak against the system. In fact, the right to bear arms (in my eyes) was set up for the people in case they needed to protect themselves against the government.

The Bush administration has shredded the constitution, controlled the media (rush, fox etc..)lied about WMD, outed a CIA agent, detroyed Habeous Corpus which is the essence of democracy, started an illegal war etc.... My goodness WAKE UP, we need to get back on track and become the great country we once were. Remeber when you speak against the governemnt, that's a good thing and should be the american way! I say, try bush and cheney for the war crimes they committed.

    • karrde,
Again im glad that people can say what they want about the president without some latin american-style disappearance, and yes it shows we still have out liberties. But in places where democracies have given way to varying levels of dictatorships it has often been legal, and gradual. Hitler came to absolute power slowly, through democratic routes, deals, elections, and new laws. So what does this mean now?

It doesn't mean bush is hitler, im not saying that, it simply means we need to be careful when leaders slowly take positions that can facilitate a power that is more absolute and closed then democratic. The exec taking control of state national guard to possibly subdue citizens doesn't mean we cant speak freely in this forum, but it does mean mean that future presidents have a greater ability to legally use force to control its own citizens.

That is a step in a more authoritarian direction, though it may be small, it is real. If people get too comfortable with the idea that they're rights are guaranteed, they're more likely to ignore these little steps until it is much too late. (Indonesia, Nicaragua, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Italy, Germany, Russia, Guatemala, Venezuela)

    • Yo! abbo:

      I said and I quote :
"This fact is true too: that no US citizen will be jailed sans-Habeas Corpus. Could it happen, I am sure. Anything is possible."

I acknowledged that any could happen. My point is it seems that a good number of people are getting their panties in a wad and extremely angry, over something that HAS NOT HAPPENED. Again this site is PROOF. Do you not realize that saying stuff like "God please impeach these people!!!" - amirct3

      "Impeach Bush, now." - jazz

"The Bush/Cheney administration should be imprisoned." - futuregen

in China or Venezuela gets you thrown in jail or you disappear. Just you being able to say that is proof enough that it is not happening now in this country. No need to be **ssed off about something that is not even happening.

YES, WATCH, make sure it does not happen. But Dang, come on when people say stuff like "Man this is scary stuff." and "I just hope that Bush/Cheney leave at the end of their second term."

No! It is not scary stuff right now. IT IS FICTION.

    • Yo! Karrd, Liberal_Extinction:
Americans should never assume that their rights and freedoms are an everlasting guarantee. It is under this assumption that they are most easily, gradually, and legally taken from us. There is nothing "liberal" about keeping a watchful eye toward the powerful, that is an American duty.

    • I sorry I tire of this charade. I take it that since no one can tall me where this US citizen is being held, much less who this person is. That this is infact NO ONE who has been jailed san-Habeas Corpus. This fact is true too: that no US citizen will be jailed sans-Habeas Corpus. Could it happen, I am sure. Anything is possible. but our Sun is possibly going to go super-nova too. Let's stop that too.

This site is proof enough for me that
      1. There is no Martial Law being declared any time soon in this country, if it were people on here would start disappearing.

      2. There is no censorship going on in this country, or you would not be able to read this right now. In China, they more than likely can't even get on this site.

      3. How do I know there is no Martial Law or censorship, because of the things I have seen and read on this site. I read people on this site saying things like "The Bush/Cheney administration should be imprisoned,"
      -futuregen

If he said that in Venezuela in reference to Hugo Chavez this site would be shutdown and futuregen would be thrown in prison.

We don't have a concept of what it is like to "not have personally rights." One person I personally know was in China and recieved an email with a religious reference and he was called into the headmasters office and told that the headmaster was contacted by the security people who wanted to ask my friend some questions.

We have no idea what is like to not have our rights, the rights that we take for granted everyday. Some of us complaining about the government is proof enough for me that there is no problem in this country with us losing ours rights anytime soon.

We have to go to where he or she( no one has told yet whether this is a guy or lady) is being held in prison and not being aloud to have a trial of peers, But we have to get together and go there immediately to demand who ever has this person to release them NOW!

Although many people need to be at work and face the possibility of being fired i believe the only way to get attention is to hurt the pockets of huge corporations. After all, all they care about is money , maybe if we can affect they're income they'll listen! lets organize it through current?

Where is the person who has been thrown in jail and not been allowed to face a trial of his peers. We all need to get together this weekend, nay, Right Now! and go to where this innocent US citizen is being held and demand that he be set free now. Next step - take all the weapons away - "say goodnight, Gracie."

I don't own a gun, but don't believe we should not have the right to. That's what the many dictators have done - get the people to give up their 'arms' and then mow them down if they complain about the new rules.

    • Censorship comes at us in all forms:

"Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? ... That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along ... Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

      Herman Goering
Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe, President of the Reichstag, Prime Minister of Prussia and, as Hitler's designated successor, the second man in the Third Reich. April 18, 1946

It started with the invention of the term "enemy combatants". Simple semantics allowed Bush and his cronies to create a class of people neatly wedged between those covered by the constitution and those covered by international treaties, who now have no rights or protections at all.
