Our racist, sexist selves

I don't need a machine to tell me whether or not I'm rascist. I know I'm not. All that matters is how I feel deep down inside and I know I treat everyone the same, no matter their race, gender or sexual orientation. So there!

I also noticed that it seemed that black guys brandished their weapons a bit more proudly and the white guys actually attempted to conceal theirs. I'm pretty sure it's biased, next to NOTHING that anyone asks you about or tests you on nowadays is bias free, even if it's labelled as such.

I've taken these tests and they actually quite biased themselves. They first teach you to associate the black person with a negative thing (such as a gun) and the white person with a positive (or harmless) thing. Then they switch on you, and see if you can re-train yourself.
Then they call you a racist.

Whatever.

Pretty idiotic to imply that it's based on race. The only thing I know is that the second I stopped noticing their skin color (like the implication PROGRAMS you to do) and started merely focusing on the shooters HAND and the object in it, I was pretty much batting .1000.

Other than that my results say that I'd rather shoot someone than pass on the opportunity, lol.

By focusing on what was being held over who was doing the holding, I did pretty good.

Racism still exist, this would open the eyes to many people a bit more how much it exist.

Racism is a disease that divides people and destroys nations, if it continues to spread, it will divide and destroy the world, as we know it...

Yeah, I pretty much shot up everybody too.

Maybe because Ive been amongst gunfire and was once robbed at gunpoint so the memory still lurks in the "deepest recesses" of my mind.

I think everybody shoots up everybody in America. Thats just how it is.

HOWEVER, the idea of dark skin somehow being affiliated with bad things is not just an American issue.
It quite worldwide, and to deny this is a lie.

Serial killer jokes aside, I don't see what this has to do with racism. The greatest persecution most of us are responsible for is the persecution of ourselves.

"Oh no, even though I'm a decent person, I'm apparently a bit racist! The shame, the shame."

How about next time they give you the choice of shooting either Martin Luther King or, say, Charles Manson?

I don't really know what this test is supposed to prove.

I personally wasn't into the whole... is he white or black. I was just looking at their arms to see what weapon they have.

Let's be real people this is all due to an intentional mis-representation of the Races, and that includes Asians, ''His-panics'', ''Blacks'' ect. It has been an ethnocentric campaign, an attempt at exaltation above all the rest. Why? I don't know. But it's true....

I tried the test but couldn't tell which was which. Maybe I just have bad eyes and so the racism-meter didn't really work on me. I shot just about everyone the first half, then got shot by everyone else the second half.

I think this tests sight more than racism.

Also I would like to add, as a youth of the 90's, I played a lot of games in the arcades in which you would constantly have to differentiate between an enemy and a hostage/friend. Looking at skin color seemed entirely secondary to identifying what was in their hands.

I think the Harvard tests that Tori linked are much more accurate when it comes to measuring subconscious racism/sexism.

Yeah i did some of these tests a little more than a year ago (the harvard ones), but they have confirmed what i have always known. I am slightly racist.

This is a really good sociological tool for people who think that they aren't racist. Although people can have the best of intentions, the subconscious is a hard horse to whisper.

Whites kill Whites, Blacks Kill Blacks, Whites kill blacks, Blacks Kill Whites, whats the difference? Killing is Killing and it's wrong, and as for racism, well, somebody needs to kill racism!

come to think of it, i see more images of white men with guns than i do black men...but i've somehow associated hand guns with inner city and rifles with rural or military.

what would've been a better test is if we're given pictures of professional looking men and women and asked which one we would hire for a certain profession without seeing their resume then revealing afterwards which is actually qualified. that would be cool. it's more subtle.

mine came out the opposite of racist... but i don't think the experiment works when they explain to you what it is beforehand. i was extra careful the whole time and looked very closely at what was being held.

I shot everyone, so apparently I need to see a doctor about something. I don't know. Quite a strange trick to play on me, to be honest.

honestly..i was bored after like the 6th slide and was shooting mofos for no reason.

I don't know that the study is an accurate representation about Americas "subconscious" racism because, honestly, how many Americans run around shooting people? The article also said that “most Americans have unconscious biases both against blacks and against women in executive roles,” well; “most Americans” includes blacks and women. Also, when it said that there were unconscious biases, well, when talking about shooting people, how many movies have white gangsters? How many white rappers sing about shooting people? Perhaps there is something amiss with the study…

I think the only thing I proved with that test was that I have poor motor skills I got shot like ten times.

this is dumb...everyone knows racist and sexist attitudes are learned over a period of time from family members, friends, and any number of sources. not to mention overwhelming television images of black males dressed in baggy pants, carrying guns, slapping women on their asses, smoking crack, etc. scaring the hell out of all americans. the world sees how we treat black men in america and we all should be appauled. no race is immune to criminal acts.

this was dumb. it had nothing to do with race. Those people were cut-outs, superimposed on backgrounds. Their color/hue/darkness/lightness/contrast were therefore irrelevant from the get-go. my eyes looked immediately for the shape of the thing they were holding. I did accidentally let one guy go who had a gun, but i forget whether he was white or black.

I kept shooting unarmed white men! What does that mean?!

Tried it out, but it was sort of weird, I wasn't even looking at the fellas I was trying to figure out which side of the screen they were going to pop up on then for me to decifer if it was the cell or a mag or something, it isn't I think based on the colour of the persons skin, not at all, well maybe for some of them that did take the test =?

I'll have to give it a shot or two, off I go. this is pretty good I might add before leaving.

I didn't do so well poor reflexes me guesses :) It also takes a second to get the hang of which to push for which. They should make it like space bar and enter or something.

I don't think the progress is in the "deepest recesses" of our minds. It's plain as day that it's wrong to be racist but sexism is still okay. If the guy that told Hillary to "go iron my shirt" told Obama to "go shine his shoes" there would have been a media uproar. People notice and revolt against racism, while sexism is just accepted.

It's embedded in our media, and in a culture that is so glued to the tv and gossip magazines, it almost seems that change will never come.
