From my blog, Progressive Common Sense: There was news a couple of weeks ago that Condoleezza Rice was being considered as John McCain's running mate (though she denied she's running for that position). Some Dems might get a little nervous because she might take black votes from Obama and blunt the impact of Obama's historic candidacy with the GOP's own historic ticket. But I think Rice as the VP nominee would be a good thing for the Democrats in November. What else could tie McCain to the Bush Administration more than picking the State Secretary as his running mate? He matter as well include DICK Cheney and Karl Rove in his campaign too. The word CHANGE would be even more powerful along with the phrase "Bush's Third Term"....-

Won't she be too busy with the trial?

Why would anyone vote for her? She is the most incompetent Secretary of State ever. She is right in the big middle of all sorts of criminal activity, from lying to torture. Yeah, we need her like we need a dose of the clap.

My, we're playing Fantasy baseball League here!
SImply put, most such "dream" tickets as McCain-Rice just never happen. Obama-Clinton is more likely. ((IMHO, Clinton-Obama will *not* happen. Period.))In a guess, it's that Condi is just not the campaigning type, and is too soft-spoken to play what is typically a hatchet-man job. But also,it's that she has no devoted delegates, nor great fundraising, to aid her.
However, I am cynical enough to think that with Condi Rice, McCain would out-tokenize the Democrats in one motion. Either the female or African-American votes would be slightly confused at the sight of both tokens in one person.
Maybe Condi's just too smart to actually run for office?
