Uranium mining is devastating.

Hear from Navajos affected by the greed for uranium.

Turn off the lights and call your congress people to stop uranium mining.

    • Exactly.

      It can not be safe.

At least not at this stage of technology.

Like the Dine woman said, "If they want the uranium, they don't care who they hurt."

A few weeks ago, I asked our "Green" Candidate for Tom Udall's Congressional seat, John Wiviott, where he stood on uranium mining and nuclear energy. He's against it and favors renewable alternatives and employs green technology in his contracting business. BUT, he said it's going to happen and there's no stopping it because there is too much money in it.
This is the sad inhumane truth.
But I won't believe it is hopeless.
"In every generation, there are those that have risen up against us," the words from the Passover Seder apply to every oppressed people.
And in every generation, there have been courageous leaders, voices in the wilderness who have warned of dangers and inspired the people to resist and arise to reclaim the human rights of clean air, water, healthy food, and a safe environment.
The earth provides everything we need, if we take just what we need and give back to each other, other beings and the earth. All of our indigenous ancestors knew that, and whoever we are, from whatever continent originally, we are all children of the earth. We can't take the oil out of her veins, and the gas from her bowels and not think there will be a consequence. We can't mine uranium and be safe. What price is cheap electricity? Is it worth the lives and health of these Dine people? How about the lives and health of all Americans in the Four Corners? How about my husband's, and 4 childrens' health and lives? How much is our greed for electricity worth?
      I don't think it's worth one life.
Tell your congress people, you won't kill for cheap electric energy.
And conserve electricity. It comes at a very high price.

*(Wiviott and may or may not be better than the young Mr. Lujan who is supported by the NM democratic machine because of his powerful father. I don't know who I support yet in this race.)

    • good documentary on the effects on ordinary people. When people are being told not to work or play outside, not to drink the water, etc,,,, by the people mining uranium, it says alot of about the so-called "safety" of nuclear energy.
