With Austria still reeling from the depraved revelations of Josef Fritzl and his sex slave daughter, it is again shocked as one of it's people revealed today that he had murdered his family.Walking in to a police station covered in blood, he announced the murder of his wife, 7 year old daughter, parents and father-in-law.
All members of the family were reportedly brutally murdered using an iron axe. At 3:20am, he announced to police "My dead wife and my dead child are in my flat."
Investigation has led police to believe that the deaths were a result of the man's attempt to keep his bankrupcy secret from his family; he wanted to spare them from the shame.
News released states that the man "claims to have borrowed a six-figure sum from someone within the family, but then lost it in failed investments. According to him, the motive for the gruesome fivefold murder was to spare his family from the ‘shame’ of finding out that he was ruined."
Police Chief Alois Lissl of Linz stated that "The attacks were extremely brutal and he always aimed for the head as he struck his victims. We found several confused letters in which he tried to explain and excuse his deeds. It would appear that we are dealing with a premeditated crime."
After the killing spree which took a day, and a toll of 5 mutilated bodies, the man attempted to hang himself but failed.

Capitalism run amok is the direct cause of the phenomenon of "Family Destruction."
Capitalism dehumanizes the individual person and attempts to make humanity serve technology and progress for profits.
Capitalism's victims are the average person who is struggling to "just make it". They snap when their family doesn't match the "perfect" families being peddled to them on TV and Movies. They have unrealistic expectations about what life "should" be about and very often their personal lives never come close. Once all their aspirations are crushed and they have nothing left to live for, they snap and crackle and pop until the whole family is dead and often the perpetrating family member themselves.
I like to call it AFFLUENZA
Affluent + Influenza = AFFLUENZA

Latest horrifics aside, I'll bet that we could point cameras at any country anywhere and, if we wait a few weeks and tie a few ghastly stories together, we could make a case that something crazy's going on there. The general US public loves to have attention turned away from it's own insanities, if only for a few, well edited, minutes.

CNN have a quote from a criminal investigator who has spoken to the AP Press, saying that the man is 'completely matter of fact ... almost without emotion,"

Well if he wanted to spare his family he could have done it a little more humanly. He didn't have to go all Lizzie Borden on them.

i find it difficult to contemplate how he spent a whole day doing this. he drove 112 miles to his parents house in Vienna, and then on to Ansfelden to his father-in-law. it's beyond me.

Maybe if the government sent everyone in Austria $600 it would solve their economic problems. Doesn't that sound like a great idea? Why hasn't anyone thought of it?

Is stoning still in fashion? There's nothing like economical hardship to tear a family apart.
