Obama Has Superdelegates in the Bank for Next Week's Primaries

Image
kafkaesque
Needing just 49 more delegates to secure the democratic nod, Sen. Obama is very close to clinching the Democratic nomination. Now, reportedly, he has an insurance card: a slew of already committed delegates in the wings just waiting for the last primary votes to be cast.

In an entry about the Obama camp locking up the nomination next week, Salon's Alex Koppelman draws from the Atlantic where they cite sources claiming the Illinois Senator has about three dozen Superdelegates who've privately committed to the campaign, but are waiting until after June 3rd to announce publicly.

A little subtraction means all Sen. Obama needs is a lucky thirteen delegates from the final states on Tuesday. Heck, even if Puerto Rico and S. Dakota were in Appalachia, he could still pull in the baker's dozen he needs.
