Bangalore, Jun 7 : In a significant breakthrough in treatment of diabetics, the scientists in Bangalore have found that cow urine reduces the blood sugar level.
A study conducted by Professor K Jayakumar of the Government Veterinary College Bangalore has shown that cows urine has anti-diabetic properties.
Talking to ANI Professor Jayakumar said that the research was in the preliminary stages but it was found that the cows urine lowers the blood glucose level.
“It is to be investigated whether cows urine stimulates beta cells, as in the case anti-diabeteic agents available in the market, he added.
Vidhya, a Phd scholar who is also working on this project found the tests on the rats showed very encouraging. The activity was tested in experimentally induced diabetic rats. The rats were orally given a small dose of cows urine daily. It was noticed that rats treated With the cows urine had lower Blood-sugar level as compared to non -treated diabetic rats, Vidhya said.
