Lawmakers are urging the Federal Communications Commission to investigate the Pentagon’s propaganda program to determine if the major TV networks or the Pentagon-backed analysts violated federal law. We speak to FCC Commissioner Michael Copps.

    • This is great, I want them to go back and examine Colin Powell's speech to the UN. Where was that mobile weapons lab he spoke about? So many lies, people need to go to jail for this. We have a small window of opportunity to really clean house, I hope we can squeeze through.

    • The market-based solutions model says that this propaganda has been very successful. In fact it has led to a boom in the weapons and infrastructure industry. The people who have problems with this obviously weren't smart enough to invest in these industries beforehand and didn't get to reap the benefits.

It would seem now the profitability in that arena is just about tapped, and as such there is no problem discussing possible ethics violations. Fortunately as a market-based solution, protocol pretty much prevents any direct action from being taken from the profiters as inevitably that would be bad for the economy.

    • Looks like the Democrats are finally learning to stand up for themselves. Get used to that feeling of disgust in the pit of your stomach. I have a feeling that over the next few months we will be hearing more stories like this and, over and over again, look back at the stolen election of 2000 and ask ourselves "what were we thinking?"

    • The BBC knew about this in February of 2002, they published the story on their site and nothing was done.

Traditional news outlets pick the story up, mention it in passing, and then a week later it is forgotten about.

Six years later the FCC are playing catch up to prosecute over damage done instead of stopping these lies from happening in the first place.

      The milk has been spilled.

    • we've all been victims of propaganda for "eons". Do you really believe that morning and night do not start with darkness. Light comes from darkness. Greek mythology is plagarism taught in every college and lower education system on earth stolen from african(egyptian)history. Now that's propaganda "for your ass"!

    • Well you were lied to. Good luck at the front office. They are all Bushies appointees. Bushie and Rove and his Buddies are at the head of the Propaganda machine. Another crime by Bushie and Sheenie that will go unpunished.
