Battersea Power Station just might turn out okay ...

London's Battersea Power Station has been lying derelict for the past couple of decades, but after several plans to turn this behemoth of a building in to something worthwhile floundered hopelessly in development, these latest plans seem actually pretty cool ...

    • What is wrong with Battersea power station?

Its hardly a behemoth! This is one of London's most iconic structures, visible allover South West London and one of the things that signifies your arrival in London by train from the South Coast into Victoria.

We lose it and we lose part of our identity and industrial heritage.

Look at Bankside power station. It found a new use that remained true to its original architectural vision and became the Tate Modern.

I think many people will agree that the last thing we need in London is another bloody glass sky scraper. We are not the United States or Dubai and we don't want to be. Keep the sky scrapers in the appropriate part of London - thats in the City around the Gherkin, Tower 42 and the Bank of England. They are appropriate there.

I agree graemesmith - Battersea Power Station is great! And by behemoth, I really meant simply that it was huge, domineering and unmissable. I think its great news that they're finally going to be able to do something with the builiding (which is currently in danger of rotting away to collapse) and keep it alive and vibrant for another generation.
