Media treats Michelle Obama's comment worse than McCain's

Future_America
On several occasions, McCain has said he "really didn't love America until he was deprived of her company." Yet the news media hardly says anything about his comments, instead they continue to focus on Michelle Obama's comment when she said, "for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country." The comments really aren't all that different, are they?

    • We just don't have things like this in Britain.....

I am fascinated by the media coverage of things that might be "un-American".....I think it fine for Mrs Obama to say that she hasn't always been proud of her country. I also think it's fine for Sen. McCain to say he wasn't in love with his country until he was away from it in very dire circumstances.

Who is more American? Who is less American? Who actually cares? Seriously.

The good thing is that both presidential candidates seem to be a move in the right direction. Though both Republicans and Democrats are more right wing than what we are used to in Britain, anything more liberal and less aggressive has to be a good thing. If I had the vote, however, Obama would have it.

One more thing.....is TV news really that sensationalist in the US? I don't think we'd stand for that here!

    • Michelle Obama grew up when racism was everywhere. She'd been treated very badly every day just because of the color of her skin. She was probably almost never surrounded by power, privilege, and adulation. I have never gone through what she had to go through and I could never imagine how it felt.

Michelle Obama began to love America when she saw that Americans had finally began to treat all people equally in all aspects no matter what the color their skin is.

I love America and I am proud of America, I do not always love or am always proud of what America does.

    • The comments sound similar, but lets consider the environment of each at the time.
McCain was in the bowels of a Vietnamese prison being tortured, beaten, and starved daily. This is when he began to love America.

Mrs. Obama was surrounded by power, privilege, and adulation when she finally became "proud of America".

Sorry, but I am a little more proud of McCain in this case.

    • mcShame is part of the same morally bankrupt Republican gang which has deceived Americans. The same Rupert Murduck propaganda (illegal) media monopoly that immorally mislead us into supporting big oils grab of Iraqi oil.

Yes, corporate media does not report the truth, it lies instead. Corporate media is about brainwashing vulnerable / susceptible people to go along with and enrich shareholders.

It's no surprise mcShame's wife is a drug addict, she also has the appearance of someone on some chemical "elixir".

    • I don't really see why anyone would love this country when we've seriously abused our power.

It's hilarious and depressing at the same time that there is such a huge amount of bias in favor of McCain.
