(That guy above is responsible for our security! ala Dep't of Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff, pronounced: "Shirt Off")

The Supreme Court has turned down a plea by environmental groups to rein in the Bush administration's power to waive laws and regulations to speed construction of a fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Homeland Security Security Secretary Michael Chertoff (pronounced "Shirt_Off") has used authority given to him by Bush Congress in 2005 to ignore (break) environmental and other laws(???) and regulations to move forward with hundreds of miles of fencing in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas.

Well, this isn't surprising since the Bush administration has been given carte blanc to do anything they darn well please with American rights and laws. No such thing as Laws...isn't that anarchy?

    • Chertoff is evil incarnate.
      Just look at him.
      Skeletor life-size, animated and terrifying.

Look what he did, and continues to do, after Katrina.

The people can, and must, retake control of our own destiny by our own actions.

We can choose to rely again on human energy and intellect.

    • Oh.

      Oh wonderful.

      Not.

Must my daughter grow up knowing that (or any) indigenous species as a bookmark photo?

Astounding, unless one considers the current shoot-you-in-the-face-oops regime.

    • It is all awefull.
Every single person on the face of the planet needs to stop feeling like they have had something done to them. And take the lightening reins of liberation and freedom into their own hands and begin to make the changes that are neccessary to save the planet and the social diplomacys of polite society, of love , of hope

      Sharing is the key.
      We are all needed now.
If every person thinks and creates and acts within the best intentions for themselves and others. WE WILL see MONUMENTAL CHANGE.
WHen Obama gets in, I hope he can stand strong the entire time. Only with the support of Active Americans, and ACTIVE PEACEFULL ENVIROMENTALISTS will SAVE THESE TIMES.
      No going back to sleep.

    • Chertoff looks like a cadaver and he projects the evil inside him. The SCOTUS needs a good hard looking into. Can a man that was not legitimately elected either time legally appoint Supreme Court Justices? I say no. The ones Bush appointed should be removed, along with do nothing but evil Thomas, and new ones appointed by a legally elected president.

Chertoff should be jailed for whatever he can be jailed for just to get his ugly evil ass off the street.

    • How did the U.S. go from Reagan admonishing Gorbachov to "tear down that wall" and the elation of the Berlin Wall being torn down to the insane building of a wall between the U.S. and Mexico?

Only racism can explain why Congress okays a wall on the Mexican border, but does almost nothing to protect the northern border when most of the "terrorists" the U.S. government claims perpetrated the attack on 9/11 came into the U.S. across the Canadian border.

If the Bush/Cheney administration is really protecting Americans, why is there only one ranger charged with protecting the entire Oregon coast, a job he says is impossible given the huge territory under his charge?

The wall between Mexico and the U.S. should not be built.

The U.S. has become like Eastern Germany. When we were children in the 60s, we were told that only in facist or communist countries were people required to carry identification and show it to anyone who shows a badge. When will Americans stand up and insist that we reclaim the U.S. as the "land of the free".

Resist and assert your Constitutional rights as free people. The more others see people stand up against the growing facism in our country, it will give them the courage to refuse "illegal search and seizure" and human rights violations.

    • All the above: You are all so right....I was even pondering just now the thought of how we get rid of Supreme Court justices. Make a law and give certain people the privilege to break that law despite its purpose to protect, save life and save our planet.
I understand from a friend there the DHS went around a golf course instead of cutting thru so they wouldn't upset the wealthy, or should I say, Filthy Greedy Rich ones that play golf there. Some homeowners not greedy and rich were cut right thru without any consideration. Some Native American holy land was treated the same.
We must respect the government, but the government needs not respect it's citizens.
