You know there are some very important articles here on Current that cover this larger than life issue (GMO), it keeps getting knocked down by who knows who? The result is anything to do with GMO, never gets much play.
Moreover, there are lots of folks who try to post very good data regarding GMO, and it take time from their lives, I am sure they too get frustrated.
I think I am just going to start cutting and pasting my previous post on anything to do with GMO, and hope one day more people will start reading this life and death material. It is called planting seeds.....(the real kind)
Al Gore gave us 10 years to clean up our act, energy wise, I believe food is in worse danger than that.
(my rant for the night) ;)

Here is an article which I posted a few weeks ago regarding labeling of milk. We are being treated as irrelevant... while the money grabbing government "servants" fill their coffers...
http://www.netlink.de/gen/Zeitung/1999/991206a.htm
Congressional testimony in which
Robert Cohen author of: MILK A-Z
(201-871-5871)
Executive Director (notmilkman@notmilk.com)
Dairy Education Boardtestified before Congress in 1999, read what he states to congress regarding labeling back then:
ROBERT COHEN TURNS AND ADDRESSES FDA PANEL MEMBERS.
"I'm going to give you some information today, guys.
The greatest controversy in FDA history was the approval process for
Monsanto's genetically engineered bovine growth hormone. We shouldn't
be here today! We should not be in this room and I shouldn't be here
because, in 1994, Congress HAD A BILL that was going to require
mandatory labeling of all foods that were influenced by genetic
engineering. I got my Congresswoman to co-sponsor that bill - 181
congresspeople co-sponsored that bill, and you know what? I learned how
Congress works that year because in 6 months they stalled the bill - 12
members of the Dairy Livestock & Poultry Committee - they stalled the
bill until the 1994 session of Congress expired and the bill died.I was so upset, I investigated these 12 men and found that collectively
they took $711,000 in PAC money from companies with dairy interests, and
four of the members of the committee took money directly from Monsanto. Now we've got a lot of political intrigue and some real science here.
We've got science fiction, we've got a combination of John Grisham and
we've got a combination of Stephen King."I know that we have a hard, hard, almost impossible fight, but this is milk, the product that is sold to families to provide nourishment. At almost 5.00 a gallon in most places today. Stop Buying This Poisoned Food!

Here Here Queenoffit. Yes I agree; money is [unfortunately where the power is] We consumers CAN CHANGE THINGS IF WE MAKE A CONCERTED EFFORT! There is great misunderstanding & deliberate misnomers on GMOs., Especially by huge corporations [i.e.] [gov't.] producing & purchasing these awful products that kill humans & animals, and attack DNA on a GLOBAL scale.
I say to the naysayers; please investigate the [physicians & scientists for responsible application of science & technology. URL.at bottom of post
basic Alarming facts about
genetically engineered foods
* Animals have become seriously ill or died from Genetically Engineered (GE) foods* Hazardous genes from GE foods that you eat can become inserted into your own genes
* An unexpected poison killed 37 persons eating a food supplement produced by GE bacteria. This disaster was not coincidental:
* Top researchers confirm that genetic engineering is inherently unsafe and unpredictable. It may
therefore generate unexpected harmful substances in GE food* Numerous studies have demonstrated that GE causes "non-target effects" in addition to the specific "desired effect". These effects are little understood, completely unpredictable and may be hazardous to the individual and the environment. This underscores the fundamental unsafety of genetic engineering.
* The present procedure for assesing the safety of GE foods is not designed to detect unexpected substances
* Therefore, harmful substances may appear in GE food approved as food
* Still, GE foods are sold in most food stores in the US and in many other countries
* In the US and Canada, they are not even labeled.

Yes, I think that most folks have been conditioned to believe that the government is working for the citizens. Today, the reality is that government works for corporations, and citizens are fighting for their life.
It isn't enough to just write letter campaigns or sign petitions, or even vote someone out, the next guy goes to DC things don't change.
But we are not referred to as consumers for nothing, that is what we are, and we can affect the market using our purchases. We need to educate ourselves, and buy products that are produced with our health and safety in mind, not to satisfy profits.
