Coffee with a smile, Seattle baristas go bare as they dare to sling some joe to the masses. This is no small feat by the way, Seattle isn't exactly the warmest place on the planet.

    • There is Jennifer Moss??? Earth Friend Jen who rides around on her bicycle topless and in a hemp made -thong - by the way good stuff!!! The police down in Portland says it is "perfectly legal"
Now honestly do you think that the Baristas sound so bad??? Nope and you know I seen more boobs on prime T.V than anywhere!! And besides you don't have to go to the bikini coffee stand if it offends you, you can go to the thousands of other coffee stands in the state.

    • Variety is the spice of life. The "AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT" items are just what is needed when you consider how serious the focus has been & how heavy a lot of the topics have been lately. Far more people than I imagined have taken CURRENT's online & TV format & ran with it. It's amazing how many people really do care enough to take the time to help make it all work in their own way & it’s already transforming opinions, stances & even laws. Keep up the great conversations & broadcasts because this is something special! Life is far too precious for each of us not to be able to control more of our own destinies. You just have to look in your checkbook to see who controls yours & whether it’s what you really want out of life.

Information is the ultimate equalizer in today's world of inequitable distribution of resources, the privilege to rape & pillage our environment being sold to the highest bidder by our gov't to unscrupulous people, & businesses out for the almighty dollar at the expense of everybody else & future generations. Man’s inhumanity against man is despicable. Information is our best weapon (with money a close second) against this unacceptable power struggle consuming the Earth & its inhabitants, in order to give those who want to, the chance at righting so many sick & evil wrongs.

If this story was so repulsive, why did more than half of the poll respondents just have to check this out, disapprove & vote it down? I sense a bit of jealousy here. This thriving business allows these women to make a ton of money wearing bikinis. I know this isn’t for everyone, especially in a male dominated society, but let the free market & city ordnances decide the outcome. What were you expecting, given the photo, when you were compelled to click on the story? The owner couldn’t have bought publicity like this. It’s human nature-our sex drive keeps us alive, sex just happens to sell anything for sale & those not getting enough complain the most. A majority of us agreed a few days ago that given the choice, most men AND women would rather look at a nude woman’s body instead of a man’s. Just imagine how wonderful it would be if this truly was today’s worst story.

    • The coffee must be awful if their marketing scheme, in a nutshell, is something that Beavis and Butt-head would've come up with.

It's time to grow up and stop giggling at boobies.

    • Would you like some coffee with your Mammaries?

The only reason this is making news is because our society has zero respect for Women. After all, we're just brainless trophies with holes who exist simply to please men.

I say EFF THAT! Those poor baristas- just like strippers- somehow got it in their heads that it's ok to sell their bodies. Yes, that is exactly what they're doing!

Wow, that's a lot of hate for something so innocuous. Clearly there's another, deeper issue at hand here for you. This is just a light piece of news to offset all the gloom and doom. People getting long for a change with small concerns to deal with instead of constant corruption and gloom and doom. Does it always have to involve death and destruction to be news worthy?

It does not always have to be doom and gloom and death and destruction to be news. Look at the stories I've posted- you'll see that I've posted some wacky stories. I do not hate- don't get it twisted. I am sick and tired of the degradation of women in all it's forms. Would you like it if your Mom was a bikini barista? I am simply expressing my opinion, just as you've expressed yours. Love it or leave it. Thank you and have a nice day! :)

    • Oh man, brewing espresso in a bikini...scary. Getting 200 degree coffee spattered on bare skin *hurts*. Badly. I don't care what kind of tips I'd make, give me long pants and a t-shirt, please.

    • Being proud of your SELF - body included and exploiting yourself as a sex object for cash isnt quite the same. Being closed minded has nothing to do with being sick of the same old crap. Women get tired of being treated like sex objects - yet still prance around knowing the whole and single point of thier appearance is sex appeal...its old, and its not news. Unfortunately the aftermath of these sorry women behaving like this is that our young girls will simply have to work harder not to be affected by being thought of as sexual entertainment first, then a person secondly...if at all. Sorry I even took the time to write about it. This is a big WHATEVER.

    • Not sure if this is news worthy or progressive. I'm all for restaurants being more laid back... I personally can't stand to wear dorky uncomfortable uniforms, but I wouldn't be willing to serve people in a skimpy outfit either. Thinking about how much more money these girls will rake in as tips compared to me makes me a little angry... we're providing the same service only they're flirting and flaunting. I'm not a fan. I have enough skeezy old men hitting on me when I'm completely covered thanks.

    • Interesting that there only seem to be two opposing opinions of the baristas: sexy or inappropriate. Why does our society insist on viewing women's bodies as seductive or shameful, but nothing in between? If this coffee shop had male employees working shirtless, this kind of outrage would never happen.

Heck yea there would be an up-roar...the heterosexual men of the world would freak out if they had to walk by that everyday. And how many women are desperate enough for a cheap thrill to patronize such a place. LOL

    • I love the idea and it works for both the consumer and provider. Sex sells and the concept is not new. In Los Angeles and Las Vegas there are plenty of establishments that have addopted this idea and it has grown drastically.
Now whether the food is good or great or vague its up for discussion on another subject. Either way i give it Two Big thumbs Up!!!!

    • There is nothing wrong with the beauty of the human body. If people want to use the beauty of the human body to sell coffee, it is their choice. If people want to wear very few clothes to sell coffee to make a buck, that is their choice.

There is nothing perverted about admiring the beauty of the human body, it is hard wired in our genes to do so. It is perverted to expect humans to be prudish or asexual.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, as there is nothing wrong with sex its natural. Perhaps it wouldnt be so disturbing if women/childeren - weren't sexually assaulted on a regular basis. If as a women and young girl even, nearly everyday you were reminded first and foremost that you are thought of sexually...rather than personally. Its commercial and trashy...and doing nothing to better our society. Eeew.

    • I will never understand the American population's close-minded attitude towards the human body. They're only in bikinis serving coffee and people have an issue. Walk to the beach and have a heart attack then. If the baristas were prancing around and trying to be seductive then I can see having a problem, but they're just serving coffee. People concerned about their kids seeing them... if your kids have gone to the beach then it's nothing new. Grow up people

    • Everyone keeps saying "sex sells" but this is a rather misleading way of describing this, since I hardly ever see scantily clad men featured in stories on Current. What you mean is "women's bodies sell". I'm sure that the other half of current viewers (hetero women) would be delighted to see a counterpart to this story that catered to their sexual appetites as well, but why do I suspect this isn't going to happen?....

    • Something about the word "Barista" sounds extremely unsexy to me.

And since I have never written myself a prescription for the typical American self-medicating stimulant cocktail of caffeine, nicotine and codeine...
I'm pleased to know that I will never have to encounter working women of this ilk.

    • If you went out of your way to get coffee to see a sexy woman in a bikini youre either desperate or it's for novelty. Either way who cares? It's not news, just an update for the lonely people in Seattle who aren't old enough to go to strip clubs.

Men who take notice of things like this aren't noticing the skimpy clothing. They are noticing what the skimpy clothing is not covering.

Besides, wouldn't a man who takes notice of such things be a healthy young man rather than a pervert? I'd be more concerned if there was a heterosexual man who didn't take notice of this had it happened at a restaurant he dined at.

With all that is going on in this world that the mainstream media doesn't cover that Current should cover, this is the best we can do? Do some cut and paste articles here from those same MSM cable outlets because they really think it is important, or do they just do it for shock value to get on TV?

What exactly is "news"? Unless this was something you were aware of at the time you chose to read the story it was most likely news by definition. In any case you are entitled to conjecture and opinion. Just try to understand you do not hold the end all be all definitive example of pure unadulterated "news". Much like art, people know it when they see it and it all doesn't have to be gloom and doom.

Jan, good to have your usual voice of dissent back. I was worried you'd taken your keyboard and gone home. It wouldn't be nearly as entertaining without you.

I beg to differ. This most certainly is news. I live in St. Louis where the Biblethumpers would never allow something like this. ("Oh, think of the children!") It's refreshing to know other parts of the country are not as backward thinking as we are. If you do not feel this is news, why are you reading it?

With the many hundreds and thousands of stories added to Current.com everyday, there's something for everyone. And conversely, there's some stories that aren't to some people's taste! That's where the nifty Vote Up and Vote Down buttons come in.

If you see a submission that doesn’t feel right for Current, don’t post comments expressing how inappropriate you think it is. These spark discussion and could inadvertently give the story a boost! Instead, voice your input by voting it down, and then move along.

There's some more details on this and other questions some of you might have in this Current blog entry and should you have any more to say on this subject, the comments thread of that blog post is a great place to leave them. We'd love to hear them!

Actually, these baraistas have been around for a while; when my friend said she was going to work at a coffee drive-thru, I totally thought she'd be standing in her bikini haha.

The United States is still a backwoods biblethumping nation of consumer goons...

      I mean, I agree that
their health care system is rubbish
and signing the Kioto agreement is pointless and costs bilions of euros that could be spent elswhere,
but the fact that "they aren't ashamed of their bodies" is not necesairly bad...
