Food prices create $6bn deficit every year

Image

The head of the World Bank says poor countries will need some $6 billion in food aid every year because of rising food prices.

Robert Zoellick says he expects food prices to stay above 2004 levels at least through 2012. He says energy prices also will remain high and volatile.

Zoellick says the World Food Program, which feeds the world's hungry, requires $6 billion. But this year an additional $3.5 billion is needed for short-term safety net projects in 50 countries.

    • why not take care of our people first? There governments dont care enough to take care of them why should we? We have our own poverty in America to think of first, were always so coy to offer a hand out.

    • What's really depressing is that I went to an event last night that resulted in begs of half-eaten food strewn about the floor. It really puts things in perspective.

    • Yes, but articles and opinions that actually show the The World Bank for the one world order two faced instituiton it really is will never see the light of day here or on the MSM.

The World Bank has been instrumental in doing exactly what you claim they have done and then forcing expensive imports on these developing countries along with GM foods. Do people think the suicides of Indian farmers are just coincidence? Farmers in these countries are falling deeply into debt because they cannot use the BS GM seeds for another season. They are forced to go to MONSANTO every year to buy them.... that is what BT cotton is doing in India, and the World Bank is now moving into Africa and South America as well by supporting GM foods. I really believe it will be too late for this world before people actually get it.

The very institutions coming out with these "reports" already know that food prices will be high until 2012 because they are the ones driving it for profit. The World Bank along with the IMF, WTO, and governments of this world do not care for people. If they did they would forgive third world debt so the people could afford to plant their OWN crops and live in peace and REALLY work to help these people instead of isssuing BS reports to scare people with.

And note the source of this link: CNN... MSM... just what will make up the ladder here.

    • BIO-FUEL LOCALLY & STARVE GLOBALLY.

You can't fuel your SUV with food, and not expect starvation.

The wheat fields of Kansas should be as sacred as the spotted owl.

Global Corporations saw profit in turning corn into fuel, and profit.

How did Global Corporation sell Biofuel to the public?

Answer: Through their political arm the Green Nazis.

Why do I call them Green Nazis, because Nazis were fascists.

Fascist were political parties that were the political arm of German Business.

Why aren't the Green Nazis speaking out against Biofuel, in the face of Global Starving?

Answer: First to protect Global Corporation's profits, and second the Global Nazis desire for a smaller world population.

    • That's what I'm saying, Jan! Shit, these people wouldn't be starving if westerners hadn't come in, taken their land, lent them a bunch a money and then forced them to turn around and ruin their soil with industrial ag methods to produce cash crops that don't feed a mouth just to pay back the freaking World Bank.

Go to Guatemala where they grow nothing but coffee and go to a local cafe and ask for a cup of the stuff--they'll turn around and give you instant crap and tell you they can't afford to buy the stuff they grow.

    • This video shows the extent to which the starving will go to sustain themselves. The music is haunting and the images are extremely moving and powerful.
