Black Gay Teen Shot Dead in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE - Almost two weeks after the shocking death of Lawrence King in his California classroom, a gay black teen has been shot dead in South Florida. Police in Fort Lauderdale say 17-year-old Simmie Williams Jr. was dressed in women's clothing and his death is being investigated as a possible bias crime.

Fort Lauderdale - An early morning breakfast in Fort Lauderdale turned into an onslaught of slurs and a beating for a Fort Lauderdale couple, who said they are the victims of a hate crime.
The incident occurred Sunday morning outside The Floridian at 1410 E. Las Olas Blvd.

The couple and a friend sat down to breakfast about 3 a.m. at an outdoor table. They ordered sandwiches, tea and juices.

A man got out of his pickup truck, walked by them and promptly began yelling slurs at the trio -- Melbourne Brunner, his partner Mitchell Mart and a friend visiting from out of town.

'He was yelling, `Faggot, were you looking at me, if you were, I'm going to come back there and break your neck. That's what I do to faggots' and then he twisted his hands together,'' Mart recalled.

Words were exchanged.

The men decided to cancel their order.

They told the waiter to call the police, Mart said. 'He said, `What are they going to do?' ''

The men started to get into their car, which was parked two feet from the table, when the pickup driver said, ' `That's what faggots do, they run,' '' Mart said.

As Brunner tried to climb into the passenger seat, the man punched him several times, pushing the car door on him. Brunner fell to the ground, striking his head.

''I came around and he was bleeding,'' Mart said.

OTHER INCIDENTS HAVE TAKEN PLACE WHERE HOMES HAVE BEEN SPRAY PAINTED ON.

WE HAVE ALOT OF ANTI-JEW, HISPANIC, BLACK, AND GAY SLURS BEING PAINTED ON HOUSES IN THE LAST YEAR.

Boycott everything that has to do with Florida. The only thing they understand is money. Hit them hard in the money belt and they will start changing their ways. If they don't well then I do hope their state ends up under water due to global warming.

There has been so much crap coming out of Florida, anti gay, anti Al Gore....who needs them anyways.

No offense to you nice people who live in Florida intended, I am venting about the state because of the crap I keep reading about what happens there. It is not a place I would ever want to take a vacation at.

Its just some kids. They should fix the genetic variation in those people. I believe that their bodies make them gay to control the population.

Hmm...Maybe we should go to their house and paint ''Straight" on their houses and cars and see if they like it!!!

Lets hope it was just a one time incident. And it doesn't happen again.

Once again, it's a dumb "majority", who don't understand how/why a "minority" is not like them. This applies to scores of other examples in life.

You assume that the person who wrote the were straight. Maybe it was an alien from another planet, or country.

Older people do not commit crimes, because as a rule they have given up on changing society. They want to live out their retirement in peace. The do not want to go to court. Older people are law biding as a rule.

I'm not sure about aliens from another planet, but its a possibility.

Now, illegal aliens, they come from Latin America, and our strict Catholics, or from the Muslin countries, who aren't too keen on deviants from the Koran.

My choice is a homosexual who is fight with his homosexual urges.

Something similar to this happened in my neighborhood when I was 11. But, the hate was targeted at blacks. Swastikas and the term, 'no blacks wanted', showed up only blocks away from an elementary school that many minorities attended. People who do things like this are just sad.

Sadly, social change does not often fully occur until the older generation dies off or becomes too old to activitely commit these hate crimes. It is one of the positive aspects of death.
