Air travel in Germany is facing massive disruptions Monday after the giant ver.di trade union called on all Lufthansa employees at the aviation hubs Frankfurt and Hamburg to go on strike.
Ver.di spokesman Harald Reutter Sunday announced the strike which comes in the middle of the holiday season and follows a vote by employees Friday in favour of the strike.
In addition to the strike in Frankfurt and Hamburg, employees in various aviation sectors in Munich, including the technical and catering, were called to strike, Reutter said.
Walk-outs were also planned for other locations, he added but refused to give further details due for tactical reasons.
