A trail of Cheetos in St. Paul led police to three teens suspected in the pilfering a vending machine.

Officers had been called to the Arlington Recreation Center, 665 E. Rose Ave., about 1 a.m. July 29 about a burglary.

A vending machine's glass had been broken with a chair, and most of the candy and chips were stolen, said a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court.

Police followed a trail of Cheetos from the rec center, around the side of the building and to a home in the 600 block of Rose Avenue, where a witness said she saw the suspects go, the complaint said.

In the home, police found 19 2-ounce bags of Cheetos and one 2-ounce bag of SunChips, the complaint said. Police saw a car pull in front of the home, and Deveaon Michael Bady Jr., 18, of North St. Paul, got out and went inside. A 17-year-old male was in the car. Bady and Jesse Jamal Fairley, 19, of St. Paul, came out of the home, where they said they had been playing video games for a couple of hours, the complaint said.

Police arrested the three teens, who all denied being involved the burglary, the complaint said.

The Ramsey County attorney's office has charged Bady and Fairley with third-degree burglary. The 17-year-old, who is from St. Paul, was charged with third-degree criminal damage to property.
