Videos To Inspire our Next President on Climate

Please excuse the solicitation -- but I think you'll truly like this...

Brighter Planet and 1-Sky have teamed up to coax a little climate creativity with a new video contest: "Climate Matters: Inspire Your Next President."

The contest touts prizes like a new HD camera and heaps of cash, ultra-cool judges like Maggie Gyllenhaal, and a chance to get your tricked-out video in front of politicians in Washington and on national television... whew!

But what's great here is the power of video, creativity, and community voice to kick up even more climate action and voice. To inspire...

So, we created a quick video (above) to help launch the contest. If you like it, please help build some momentum on this contest by leaving a comment or sending this to a contact of yours.

    • Please don't apologize for anything that can possibly motivate one more person to become concerned and motivated about this desperately important issue. This looks like it could turn into a barn burner. It is also an answer to the critics about protest being boring. Please try to get as many of these posted as you can. Great post, J.

    • Jake...I applaud you for trying to do something to turn things around.......we have a basic problem.....there are ones like yourself and myself...that care so much.....and want to do something......then there are those that care and want to wait for others to do something.....then the last group....those that do not care.....and basically through Religious indoctrination.....have it in their mind that this Earth is just a way station for better things to come.....so they do not really care.......how this got started amazes me..The funny thing is this last group is my definition of Evil.......we have no leaders.....great leaders care about people and want to make a better life.....our political leaders are all dancing to the same music....and the musicians are the same group that have been playing for a long time.....Thank you and I do hope that something does turn this nightmare around soon....It will not be the next president or Congress.....it will be kind caring people like yourself.........Golden Ruler.......Johnnie Hargrave......

I also like to think of all the "sprouts", the budding environmentalists, the lines of people just poking their heads out to find a new realm of environmental engagement that goes beyond recycling. Maybe it's a commitment that feels risky at first and ends up being rewarding in many ways...
