Mother-of-three Lorraine Griffiths says the camel spider killed her pet dog and she refuses to go back to her home until it is caught.
The creature, which can grow up to 15cm (6in) and run at 10mph, is believed to have come back with her husband, paratrooper Rodney, from Helmand province.

The other day I actually saved a spider rather than killing it. But now I'm getting a GUN just in case I come across one of those spiders! I mean it killed the dog, meaning it can kill me too! But I'll be prepared!

Unless they are highly venomous/ deadly/ etc., spiders are great to have around. They keep the insects from getting too numerous. They are our friends!
Granted, this spider does not fall into that category...after all, lizards are our friends too.

Jesus. Are these the ones that fly through the desert winds and are as big as an adult's face? Spiders don't normally freak me out but this one... Jesus!

i dont believe they are technically arachnids, they are in the scorpion family, whatever that is. either way quite gross but i do recall watching a video of US soldiers torturing a camel "spider" in afghanistan tied down to a box. honestly i felt bad, who feels the need to torture an insect; or whatever that is.

Both spiders and scorpions are arachnids, as well as ticks and mites and the like.
They evolved from primeval sea scorpions. - 3 years ago

"The camel spider lives in holes and burrows in desert regions. It is venomous but could not kill a human"
I don't think I'd hang around long enough to test that out.

Wow, that's one mean-looking arachnid. How on earth did he manage to bring that back without noticing?
This is crazy: 'He saw a huge spider and screamed to his sister, Cassie. They tried to put a pint glass over it but the spider was too big. They poked it with a coat hanger and it bit the hanger. The dog came in, jumped on the bed and barked at it. The spider hissed and Bella went running out whimpering.'
They're only assuming it killed the dog though, since it came down with a fever a week later...

I don't blame them for moving out either. These are massive! Imagine opening your suitcase only for one of these to jump out, its like a scene from 'Alien'.

To be fair, I wouldn't want to be in the same house as that.
