In an alley behind a non-descript row of brick buildings on North Speer Boulevard, and on the other side of a large metal gate with armed guards standing in front, Republicans have set up a "war room" in Denver...
Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan said the team of nearly two dozen staffers at the opposition headquarters will be "fact-checking" statements made by the Obama campaign and by speakers during the convention.
"Just consider this the Ministry of Truth," quipped Dick Wadhams, chairman of the Colorado Republican Party.
A) That may be the funniest name I've seen in months.
B) Someone needs to tell him that the Ministry of Truth in Orwell's book was the place where they crafted lies.

Both parties are jumping into the slime pits early, not to waste time or mind bending before November. Remember "there is no spoon".

robroy1 is right. The repugs are not only slimy and sneeky they are in your face and don't really give a damn about what you think or know. They are all about maintaining the status quo. They love the idea of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

it's videos like this that convince me that there is a secret organization pulling the strings and executing a NWO. how can an accredited public news organization have an anchor speak so openly on what is actually happening while defacing and defaming the powers in place. and nearly a year later virtually nothing has changed; bush is still smiling, were on the verge of sending more troops to die except in iran, and people are still supporting the idea of war. really what is going on here?

i wonder if maybe he didn't think about 1984 at all and honestly thought he was making that name up himself and was whole hearted in what he thought as the truth.

That was probably just a side benefit which is just a perk of the job.
Since the Ministry of Truth is devoted to propaganda getting a reaction is part of the process especially by distracting away from what they don't want talked about and manipulating what they do want.
Getting a emotional reaction from just the name could be part of what they planned to fit in with something else they were trying to achieve

By far the most likely explanation is that he knew precisely what he was saying and said it to piss off liberals. And it totally worked, right?

I think this illustrates the underlying difference between the majority of Democrats and Republicans... Democrats actually read books.

Maybe they should have been the Ministry of Funny Walks instead!
Seriously though, if it came from the Obama campaign, it needed investigation. Democrats or Republicans - they are all politicians, and if the lips are moving, they're lying. Some just spin bigger lies than others is the only difference.

Doesn't surprise me that Dick's Wad-hams hasn't read 1984... or that the Republican organizers lie. What surprises me is that the Republican party is so popular!
