ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God."In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it "God's will."
Palin asked the students to pray for the troops in Iraq, and noted that her eldest son, Track, was expected to be deployed there.
"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."A video of the speech was posted at the Wasilla Assembly of God's Web site before finding its way on to other sites on the Internet.
Palin told graduating students of the church's School of Ministry, "What I need to do is strike a deal with you guys." As they preached the love of Jesus throughout Alaska, she said, she'd work to implement God's will from the governor's office, including creating jobs by building a pipeline to bring North Slope natural gas to North American markets.
"God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she said.
"I can do my job there in developing our natural resources and doing things like getting the roads paved and making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded," she added. "But really all of that stuff doesn't do any good if the people of Alaska's heart isn't right with God."
Palin attended the evangelical church from the time she was a teenager until 2002, the church said in a statement posted on its Web site. She has continued to attend special conferences and meetings there. Religious conservatives have welcomed her selection as John McCain's running mate.
Rob Boston, a spokesman for Americans United for Separation of Church and State, lamented Palin's comments.
"I miss the days when pastors delivered sermons and politicians delivered political speeches," he said. "The United States is increasingly diverse religiously. The job of a president is to unify all those different people and bring them together around policy goals, not to act as a kind of national pastor and bring people to God."
The section of the church's Web site where videos of past sermons were posted was shut down Wednesday, and a message was posted saying that the site "was never intended to handle the traffic it has received in the last few days."

NATIONAL STRIKE DAY PROPOSED!
Dear Americans,
I would like to propose a "NATIONAL STRIKE DAY" for every American that is able. I have heard France has been doing this with great success. Please let us get everyone engaged here and anywhere we can post this message or one of your own.
The Questions I would ask here are as follows: What day should it be and when and how often? Once a month to start or? I believe this would really give the people back their power in this country. It is time to take action! If we do not take some action now as our Declaration of Independence says we have the right and obligation to, it looks like our country will fall.
People are losing their homes by the millions, and jobs of course with it, and our government with the media's help are trying to hide it from us. They are going to let us just fall, we have to save ourselves, to many good people's lives are being ruined.
This is the responsibility of a free people. Be sure the world bankers have a diabolical plan for us and unless we truly want to be slaves, we have to do something. I am open to other ideas, or maybe someone is already doing this (I heard something). I plead with each American here on Twitter to get involved and support this idea, and everywhere else we can get this message out.
This will be a peaceful way to get our government's attention, while we take back our country. Trust me if George Washington and the many honorable men and women who fought our war of Independence were here today, they would have already taken action years ago, many years ago, and I doubt it would be very peaceful.
Thus, no one works until our demands are met. Start with say five or ten demands. So my idea, proposal is that Americans just go to the street, your city hall, or what is ever appropriate in your state. No one works until our demands are met. But absolutely No violence, no vandalism, no matter what please. That will destroy our honest political cause afforded us by our constitution. In fact, we should make, in my opinion that it is a very somber and quite sit in, almost complete silence until our demands are met, so they cannot try and intimidate people or arrest them unlawfully as they have been doing. I believe this is very important point, no conflict what so ever, just freeze everything. We are all allowed to stay home from work. We need to get employers involved obviously.
My list of demands start as follows:
1.) No more bail outs, but instead money is to be given directly to the American people.
I heard some experts are saying that this is the only real cure, some 450,000.00 to each American is the answer to our financial crisis. http://www.dvorak.org/blog/?=263212.) Abolish the IRS, period!
3.) Reinstate our fourth Amendment rights.
4.)
5.)
I hope others will give their suggestions. I would recommend we elect a board and thus work to organize our first AMERICAN NATIONAL STRIKE DAY, or if someone has already started this, please if anyone is aware of this let me know.
Sincere hope for our beloved nation,

I'm still trying to figure out what God Palin and the hypocritical staunch Christians appeal to? One that destroys other human beings, a mean and judgmental God who has mental problems,is jealous, and is non-compassionate. Give me a brake. The Jesus that we read about had tolerance, went for the underdog, and left every man the right to choose for himself. Oh, and what the hell happened to turn the other cheek all you war mongers? I am sick of a bunch of male and female testosterone junkies running this country.

This sounds like the utterance of Cotton Mather another religious fanatic from 1637, who proclaimed after slaughtering 600 men women and children of the Pequot tribe, God has dispatched 600 savages into hell.

Here's a simple question . . . for those of you who are so concerned about all this "God's Warriors" stuff. Do you even believe in God? If not, then why the concern?

I believe in God. I do not believe God would promote the mass murder of innocent people. No more than I believe in a God that would provide a natural gas pipeline to Alaska.
When God commanded that we place no other God before him, he even meant ourselves.

I know this is hard for some of you to believe, but there are some who believe that defeating tyranny and freeing people to choose how they are governed is God's work. There are some people who believe that all blessings come from God. Why shouldn't Palin praise God and ask him to bless her state?

jawnybnsc:
She didn't ask God to bless her state, she asked God to supply her state with a natural gas pipeline. Huge difference.
She also believes that the invasion of Iraq was the will of God. Unless I am way off base, the invasion of Iraq was the will of G.W. Bush. And G.W.Bush is not God. He may believe he is, but he is not. And I have a real hard time believing he spoke with God, and God told him to invade Iraq, the premise that Palin buys into without question. If your of the belief that the sacrifice of 600,000 innocent souls was worth the price, to execute one tyrant that (incidentally) posed no physical threat to the United States, then you deserve everything the future (if the present is not changed) will bring.

She is a perfect running mate for McCain. He is so much like Bush you can hardly tell them apart. Bush also believed that the Iraq war was blessed by God. Palin is beginning to look a lot like Cheney. God help us if either of these two idiots get the 3:00am phone call. I can see it now, they get the call, roll over, hit the "Red Button", and go back to sleep.
Nuclear Inhalation, "in the name of God". WoW...isn't that that same slogan of our enemies? "In the name of Allah" ?

THIS IS THE BIGGEST INSULT TO WOMEN EVERYWHERE PLEASE GIRLS STAND BEHIND HILLARY IF YOU WERE DON"T DISGRACE US> if you were always a conservative fine though. just don't back off your views to support someone with opposite agendas. Meaning McCain. who won't let Palin do anything in the office anyway. maybe she's tough enough to fight with him to do something for special needs families. Which might be the only thing we'd achieve positive out of either candidate so write them or your congressman keep them busy. Think local.

How can you say that you're pro-life when you think it's ok to send someone on a suide mission. Nontheless, killing one another in a war for power and vengance as McCain and Bush wants it. Isn't that just as bad as abortion? I sure think so! Of all people, I would think that McCain would understand how it was like being a pow with great suffering and torture that he himself would never wish upon anyone to have to go through and endore what he's been through. My father faught along side with the Americans back in the Vietnam war and now he's against war period! He says, that he's been through that type of agany that he will never wish upon anyone to have to go through what he had experienced and seen in his lifetime. Nothing is worse than seeing someone be killed or killing someone. I think it wasn't worth putting our brave troops in danger and loosing their lives over their country that fell apart in every direction! How many more lives is Bush/McCain going to sacrafice for this country that is already in bad shape? It's wrong to replace a life for power. McCain reminds me of those who never backs down from their enemies and opponents whether compromising is the next best choice or not. It's like saying, I will not quit unless you're dead! As indicated in the Bible, you're just as bad as your enemy if you choose to follow in their foot steps.

So Sarah Palin is now implying that our soldiers are on a Christian jihad? I hope if there is a God, her ideals will be heard when this country is in hell with McCain at the driver's seat and her riding shotgun. She sounds like she's had a few too many bloods of Christ.

Isnt it ironic when Christians criticize Muslims for killing in the name of religion...yet see it as perfectly ok to do it themselves.
It must be nice to go through life so blissfully self righteous and ignorant.

Under Article I, Section 3, paragraph 4 of The united States Constitution, "The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate...]" placing Sarah Palin, if elected, in the Congress, and could therefore be impeached for violation of the first amendment if she voted to directly sport any "[...law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...]"(excerpt US Constitution Amendment I).
It seems likely she would do just that, and push the war in iraq to a Crusade. (aka holy war)
For more on why a Crusade is a bad thing see the link below.

WHAT GOD WANTS, GOD GETS, GOD HELP US ALL - ROGER WATERS
» - Michel Onfray

She's quite a story continually unfolding, to be sure.
With all this attention on her past deeds, I wonder why her dealings with her husband, an ex-British Petroleum executive (which, in oil "lingo", means that he still has strong ties), hasn't been under more scrutiny.
Let's face it. These past several decades have been all about the oil. - 4 years ago
