Sarah Palin smoked legal marijuana, why can't you?

GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin is an ex marijuana consumer. Mrs. Palin smoked her pot in Alaska, which her campaign points out was legal in Alaska at the time. This is a curious defense as John McCain is an advocate for the federal arrest and prosecution of medical marijuana patients and providers who operate legally under California law.

Like any good politician Mrs. Palin she now claims she didn't enjoy her marijuana, and that adults (besides her) should still be arrested, even though she wasn't.

"'I can't claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled.'" The paper quoted Palin as saying she opposed legalization of marijuana because of the "message" that would be sent to her children.

The arrest of 800,000 adults a year for cannabis does send a message- about the perpetual ignorance of government. A better message for children is that one day they will be adults, and they will have adult decisions to make. Mrs. Palin's marijuana stance seems to be typical political hypocrisy; convenient and intellectually dishonest.

Today, Alaska still has the country's best marijuana laws. According to NORML an adult can posses up to one ounce of pot at home, with no penalty. Of course, the logic behind Alaska's policy ends there as possession of over 4 ounces is a felony offense.

If legal marijuana is good enough for the GOP Vice Presidential candidate, why not for all Americans? After all, where would John McCain be if Mrs.Palin had been arrested and put through the drug court deferred probation nonsense so many other defendants face?

    • Too bad, so sad, can't smoke weed no more because it makes my blood pressure go way too high. Heh, pun not intended. :-)

You might just end up starving to death bro.
      LOL

You might want to try activism or civil disobedience first.

Don't worry though, McCain doomed himself when he chose Palin.

That will go down as the biggest political blunders of modern politics.

When he recruited her he put the final nail in the republican coffin.

    • I can't stand that federal law can supersede state laws enacted by the people.
I believe the states should be allowed to decide without the Federal government interfering.

When the sick and dying use it LEGALLY in states with Medical Marijuana laws the DEA uses federal law to arrest them.

How can she claim it was "legal" when the sick and dying can't even mention medical use as defense in federal courts?

Sarah Palin admitted to breaking federal drug laws!
Even if its "Legal" in Alaska its still Illegal federally!

She should be treated the same as the other 800,000
Non-Violent cannabis offenders arrested every year.

I wonder where she would be right now if she had been imprisoned and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance like the rest of us?

    • The way to legalize marijuana is by countless people purposely getting arrested all at one time for smoking until the jails are 110% maxed out with stoned people and many still coming in. This will blow the message right in the mans face til he himself becomes high.

    • If the gov't legalizes and sells pot chances ar that they'll put nicotine in it same as they do for tocabbo; but that's why you grow your own.

Sidenote - regardless of the canibus plant it's sister plant hemp needs to be legalized for the sake of our economy and our planet.

    • Personally, I don't think that Palin is a good candidate at all. First she says she supports her 17 year old daughters pregnancy then she seem to have a goo shot. And now she doesn't think that legalizing marijuana is a good idea because she doesn't want it to have and effect on her children after she smoked weed herself? It appears she's been making too many mistakes that she cannot afford to make in this historical election. McCain made a bad choice. Also, just because she has the money and want to be the next Dick Cheney with those guns doesn't mean she shouldn't get arrested. But I do agree that legalizing marijuana is a bad idea, companies and manufacturers would start putting different chemicals in it and sell it for higher prices then what they get now. It would be horrible for all pot smokers around the U.S.

    • Great post! If it's legal to have an ounce in Alaska, it should be legal in the rest of the country, right? Let's see if she address' this issue.

God(or whom ever did) put it here for a reason.

      Who knows.

Cannabis is kind of an "alien" plant.
It is very unique when compared to the rest of the plant kingdom.

Cannabis is the ONLY plant where the males appear one way and the females appear very different, physically!
No one ever speaks of males and females in regard to the plant kingdom because plants do not show their sexes; except for cannabis.
To determine what sex a certain, "normal" plant is: You have to look internally, at its DNA.
A male blade of grass (physically) looks exactly like a female blade of grass.
The cannabis plant has an intense sexuality unlike any other plant on earth.

    • This reminds me of Palin's statement that it was her daughter's choice to keep her baby, yet she wants to take that choice away from other women... what a hypocrite!

PS - Jack Herer RULES!!! I've been a long time supporter and fan!! Thank you Jack for all you do!

    • i think the word hypocrite is not enough. this is so crazy. and -it was not on this forum but it was on the link- im so tired of the if you dont like it leave mentality. i like the Jack Herer take on it much more. if you dont like it change it. this guy has done so much towards legalizing cannabis, that all those that are pro-cannabis and like where this issue is heading in our country-for the better-owe it to themselves to follow in his footsteps. if you truly are for the legalization of cannabis, then its time you put your money/action where your mouth is and join the fight.

    • The main stream media needs to cover this. Palin & the GOP are hypocrites. The war on drugs must come to an end. Let us legalize and tax marijuana. The time is now.

    • One of the very few things about which Palin has been honest!

I always thought Wild Bill was extra special for finding it necessary to tell us the lie that he wasted perfectly good weed just puffing the blunt sans inhaling. Sweet cheese on a cracker! What's the point of toking if you ain't gon' inhale? And, if you're toking, what is the point of lying about it?

But, now I have to wonder what Palin's primo must have been laced with, because she's awfully cerebrally damaged to have just hit the blunt. There was some PCP, Meth, Drane-O, something all up in that cakemix. Ol' girl comes off as gone an awful lot for just weed.

    • What is really scary is that Palin sees no problem with being super moral when she sees fit and immoral when it suites her political ends.

It is very clear that the Republican party has no problem being totally irresponsible having this stupid hockey mom a heartbeat away from being the president. We should all be wary of the GOP since it seems they are willing to place our country at grave risk just to win an election.

I believe we are at a frightening juncture in our country's history.
