Hearing about this makes me think of how we're also destroying the forest and endagering animal species on land as well. If there are Wildlife Parks that protect animals in their natural habitat on land, can we establish that for the ocean as well?

We do need to learn more about the ocean, the creatures and all before it's too late.

I think the Smirnoff 'Sea' advert has a point here. The immeasurable crap we throw into the sea on a daily basis is outrageous, and add to that the noise of water traffic, military exploration and underwater mining - poor old cetaceans. No wonder many that were found dead when I worked in a whale and dolphin rescue program had exploded ear drums, eye balls and blood vessels - the pressure of sub-aqua noise pollution was just too great.

It's a makor aspect in whale conservation; just because we don't fully appreciate how important it is for breeding/feeding, doesn't mean we should disregard it like we do.

we need more humans on this planet...NOT! everyone gets so happy when they have a baby, I get horrified by these direct and indirect polluters.

We should probably just start off-shore drilling tomorrow and be done with the debate on what reasons we have not to... (sarcasm).

This could be an issue that we'll wait until it's to late to deal with. Our world is going to shit!

You're right, we most likely will wait until it's too late, it's what we do best.

If we could get all the governemts to stop using sonar, that would be a lot of help. But of course, they don't care enough.

The more modern the world gets, the more we destroy it.

I read years ago that whales communicated from sea to sea until tankers and other noise in oceans have reduced their ability to communicate.
We all know that sonar causes them pain and often death. When will we realize that we are harming ourselves when we harm other creatures?
I grieve for their suffering and I feel it in every part of my being.

This is really sad. We do far too little to protect marine mammals, many of which were here long before us.
