The only protest that is against the law is one that is not peaceful. More often than not it is the police that are violent to begin with. We do not need police in full riot gear at the scene before anything happens.

I'm not seeing much unlawfulness. I'd be a little unsettled if law enforcement was coming at me all masked up and throwing explosives.
It's sickening. They'll say whatever they want to do what they want. "Only in America..."

The idea that police officers couldn't differentiate between unlawful protestors and journalists seems farfetched.
I mean, an RNC Press Pass (such as the one Amy Goodman of Democracy Now was wearing) would have been a dead give away that at least this person was a member of the media.

I think the RNC got out of hand because there was more people there. The police couldnt differentiate between lawful and unlawful acts.... not that it seemed they were trying.....

It's very interesting that both conventions had the same amount of nazi-like security, and you couldn't protest openly in areas near the convention, but it just got out of hand at the RNC. Why? If it was due to the protesting the war then they should be protesting the DNC for pretending to have their hands tied with regards to Iraq and Afghanistan.
