Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their six children arrived in Berlin for a three month stay this week as Pitt gets ready for his role as the leader of a band of Jewish-American soldiers during the Second World War in the Quentin Tarantino thriller Inglorious Bastards.

The Hollywood couple will be moving into a rambling chateau on Wannsee lake in a leafy Berlin suburb, according to German media reports, although the pair also recently bought a flat in the central Berlin Mitte neighbourhood.

The home, where Pitt and Jolie will live with their clan has been sealed off from the road that leads to it with planking and searchlights installed in the garden. Media reports suggest it is costing as much as £20,000 pounds a week to rent.

Pitt reportedly intends to commute to the nearby film set by helicopter each day - there is a landing pad in the grounds - and to Goerlitz, near the Polish border, where director Quentin Tarantino spent the weekend scouting out sites.
