Monkey chants were heard from a section of the Maksimir Stadium when England striker Emile Heskey was booked.
The FA made an official complaint after the game and Heskey later called the fans "ignorant people" and claimed he ignored them.
"You have to let the people above deal with that and I will carry on playing my game," added the England forward.
The FIFA statement said: "Racism has no place in football.
"Fifa is determined to continue broadcasting this message around the globe and deploying all of the means at its disposal to eliminate this form of discrimination."
£15k is that it? Hardly much of a deterrent is it?

the xenophobic slip ups always seem to be coming from Spain. The Thierry Henry and Ashley Cole Vs L.Aragon's incidents was severe. UEFA's punishment and suspension was simply too sympathetic - the above picture is blatantly insulting. To hear that Heskey had to go through this with Croatia too is rather upsetting.
Here's last weeks story on the opening of the inquest.

I don't see the point in the fine, they should deduct points. Even if the fine was £5m the fans won't care its not like they'll be the ones paying it.
They will care though when a points deduction costs them a place at a World Cup, it is more likely to improve the fans behaviour than the fine.
This might be slightly harsh to the majority of well behaved supporters but hopefully will teach them not to turn a blind eye to the minority.
