One of the reasons we have the right to bear arms is to protect our homes from outside invaders. Whether they be the British or some rapist.

No it's not the reason, the reason is something outdated to do with militias, which are no longer in existence. There is really no reason to bear arms, more people are killed than are saved by them.

Less than .02% of all people carrying a conceal and carry liscense get their guns taken away..... Having guns doesnt mean people will use them for bad purposes. Not only that but crime rates are significantly lower in areas where guns are allowed in homes. Any time guns are restricted a law abiding citizen becomes just another victim to a criminal with an illegal gun. The debate has been gone through in our courts and we do have the right to defend ourselves and our homes by possessing a gun.

i'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to carry guns, just that it's incredibly ignorant to use this story as a means to defend the second amendment.

I live in London, guns are illegal, the chances of getting shot in London are very, very low. (Though 28 people under the age of 25 have already been stabbed in london this year)
And it is true, what ever the statistics, more people are killed by guns then are saved by guns.

I agree this is a valid story to bring up the right to bear arms. It's not outdated at all. The purpose was to be able to defend yourself against your own government with a local militia.
