Simon Cremer and three of his employees allegedly wrestled Mark Gilbert to the ground, tied his hands behind his back and bundled him into a van. Cremer, who suspected him of theft decided to make an example of him - and throw political correctness out of the window at the same time.

What price should Simon Cremer pay for taking justice into his own hands?

    • A judge in Texas did that to those he found guilty. They'd have to stand outside of the place that they stole something with a sign that stated they stole from said store.

Those punishments are far better than jail time where they do nothing and no one knows what a horrible person they are.

He stole money from a company. STOLE...there is no need to state he is innocent until proved guilty because they have his guilt they have the proof. You think he'd just go and attack someone based on word evidence? ha...yeah right.

So that's a hollow phrase to use as a reason that he's wrong for doing this.

If I were on his jury I'd find him innocent of any wrong doing. I'm not going to fault someone for doing something about a villain. The villain is not the victim and I refuse to be one that is stupid enough to give more freedom and care to someone that never cared about anyone but himself.

    • I guess this is a case of presumed guilty until proven guilty...

I hope the guy is proven innocent and be given the option as to what justice should be dished out to his accusers....

    • wow. simon should be thanked, told never to do it again, and then sent on his merry way with a check for a 25,000. he should have faced no punishment for this whatsoever.

    • This man had no right to make the thief do this, but the police should have; old fashioned punishments like this would be surprisingly effective I think.

    • Aah, good old civillian justice. Bring back the stocks, eh? Actually, I think such 'examples' could be useful, as long as they're not overdone or turn into violence. Mr Cremer taking such a thing into his own hands though, could be the start of something rather more dangerous.

    • I think we should handle issues amongst ourselves. No one was injured and the horrible system didn't need to be involved.

I am against prisons and all for public humiliation and lashings. I feel we would learn the lesson of others mistakes if we could see the punishment and not waste so many tax dollars on the current ridiculous system.

    • This is disgusting. Yes, it is wrong to steal, but to force someone to go on a 'walk of shame' is even worse ... who does that guy think he is?

Let's, instead, praise the one who stole the money. He gave up his rights when he decided that his life was worth more than someone else's enough to take their hard earn cash.

I guess you'd shake the hands of the guy that stole a lot of money from you and send them on their way without getting the police involved, because really...who are you to judge?

    • This is the sort of thing that leads to pediatricians getting their house stoned.
      Crime committed? Call police.
Only THINK a crime is committed? Defo call the cops.

The 'call the police' line is definitely a good one, and the one you'd think would be the most sensible option, but it seems that the police are ignoring more and more 'non-serious' calls, so maybe this guy thought he had to take matters into his own hands?

    • there is a key element of British law that states innocent until proven guilty! It also takes quite a lot of training and responsibility to have the right to judge. Although the photo is funny.

    • Ouch, part of me thinks good on him the thief should be shamed. However, the fact that the police chucked Mr Cremer in the cells is more than a little ridiculous.
